Introducing the Man from B.L.A.M.
« on: August 10, 2014, 06:34:11 PM »
This October, 30 dedicated LAFers will be gathering for a long weekend of top-draw, eye candy-rich gaming (and no small quantity of sherbert) at one of our occasional British Lead Adventure Meetings.

To mark this auspicious gathering, the talented Mason has sculpted this limited edition miniature, strictly limited to a run of just 30 gleaming castings as souvenirs for the lucky BLAMMERS of 2014...

Is that the thwack of leather on willow, or the resounding smack of firm government?

Meet Reggie - remorseless all-rounder with the bat and the double-barrelled: Today informally attired in his City shirt, UKIP tie, Treasury trousers and weekend (county) bowler - he is the very model of your typical British wargamer (as fondly imagined by our German friends, at any rate ;)).
The tattoo? Ah yes, an unfortunate memento of Reggie's youth, when, having absconded from his (minor) public school on the back of a scandal involving a Fourth-Form boy and a one-hole flute, Reggie worked his passage around the Far East as mess steward aboard a ferry plying the Malucca Straits. Fetching up later in Old Kowloon, Reggie entered the world of merchant banking and collapsing the global economy, before returning to run the family firm of provincial solicitors in Stoke Poges, where he has also become chairman of the village fete committee, captain of the village first XI, and secretary of the prize geranium-growing society...

Only 30?  I'd love to get one, but I expect this is an attendees-only thing :'(

Beautiful mini and great paint though! If anyone can do stripey trousers well, it's our Cap'n Blurd.

Sooooo- where and when is the BLAM meeting at which he will be making our acquaintance, and how does one finagle an invitation?

Sadly, the event is fully subscribed. It's in a pub function room and 30 is the limit. It has been advertised previously, and I'm sure will be again for anyone interested in future events, but I'm afraid this one is full. I do believe the dolly may provide the basis for a not dissimilar figure from Mason in the not too distant future. But this particular fellow with the cricket bat and shotgun is very much a one off curio for participants. Well, a 30-off. No extras I'm afraid.

Very nice sculpting and painting.

But the colour choice? By Apollo that's an ugly combination! Also had to look up the UKIP, they really chose those colours? Blimey.

I think the colours are just fine, they add character. He clearly sees himself as a fellow who starts trends, not follows them!

He looks a bit like a modern reinvention of the Landsknechte... Definitely a well dressed badass.
