It was my SOTR project, now is the Konflikt '47 one!
« on: August 18, 2014, 03:59:17 AM »
After buying lots of SOTR German and US soldiers, I've decided to also buy some vehicles. Besides the usual DUST walkers, I've bought a plastic SD.KFZ 251/1 AUSF C Hanomag from the Bolt Action range.

It was a bit of a pain to assemble, the top and bottom part don't really match and there's a bit of a problem with the tabs for the seats (I had to remove the tabs to glue them). But after gluing everything, I've used my cheap airbrush (and industrial compressor) to paint everything:

Then painted the interior:

And weathered it:

The parts still fit...more or less:

Today I started the final camo scheme:

To do: finish the tracks and wheels; apply decals; weather the exterior. I'm also trying to adapt one of the SOTR gunner for the gunning station at the front of the vehicle

It was a fun experience and I've decided that this will be the camo scheme for all of my German vehicles  lol. The only exception will be the occasional turret/part in red primer  ;D

I've tried the rules and really liked them. But I'll wait for their Kickstarter to see the new ones  :-*

While the Hanomag is still waiting for some love, I decided to try my hand at building a mech, inspired by many works seen here and by Paolo's Dust universe.

I've been using bits from a 1/35 Tamiya Panzer Kampfwagen II with the body of a Tamiya 1/35-SD.KFZ.222. The legs are from an old Airfix Robogear mech. I've taken some comparisons pics with a Dust Ludwig and some SOTR 28mm miniatures:

Thanks! Your SOTR forces were one of the reasons that made me start my own project.

One of the reasons I love SOTR is the chance to kitbash mechs!

Finally I'm painting some miniatures. First member of "Projekt Über-soldaten"  lol

The original figure is a Heroclix Hulk - awful sculpt that I coated in white and repainted as a "normal" human, enhanced by "Projekt Über-soldaten". The code name given to these guys by the Allies is: "Troll"

My plan is to get some different Hulk figures and repaint them in the same scheme.

Cracking start. That hulking troll looks dangerous ;)

The custom walker turned out well. Source enough legs and weapons and you could kit bash from all sorts of things, even dollar store toy transformers/mechs.

Keep at it
Matt.

And today I painted a Nazi Werewolf! West Wind model, from the official SOTR line and a horrible sculpt. There's a gigantic mold line that starts on one arm, goes up the neck and into the mouth. I couldn't clean it fully, so I decided to improvise and transformed it into a scar (in the face, at least).
