First, moving into contact with an enemy (aka "rushing") always starts a fight -- no if, ands or buts. You could still choose to Dodge, but the fight is not optional.

Thanks, I think we got confused reading the movement rule that says you can't take an action when you run.  I take it this means that "actions" (might, cunning, finesse) are defined separately from "fighting" (brawl, shoot dodge)?  If so, then I could also run and shoot (at -1d running penalty) during my activation?

Glad you guys like the pics!

Yes, you can run and shoot or brawl during the same activation. Enjoy the mayhem.  :D

This has come up a couple times, so let me try to clarify...

An "action" generally relates to a non-combat activity that is important to the scenario. Here are some examples --

1. Attempting a Plot Point is the most common action in Pulp Alley.

2. Any ability that includes something like "as an action for this character...", is an action.

3. Maneuvering a vehicle is an action.

In Pulp Alley, if it counts as an "action" then it is clearly indicated as being an action in the rules. Otherwise, it is not an action.

Moving is not an action, it's moving. Fighting is not an action, it's fighting.

The idea here is that an "action" is something that probably takes just a little more time/concentration than punching/shooting someone in a combat situation.

I hope that helps.  :D

Some beautiful set ups there, looks like you are having a great time with Pulp Alley. Some very nice miniatures, too.

What ole Snappy said!

I just stumbled on this thread.
The buildings and ship are fantastic, & I'd love to see more if you have the time.
Thanks for posting such inspiration!
