Finally got enough time away from selling Wargaming stuff to finish the ship. I'll have a monster blog post about it up in a while, but until then here's a few pics to whet your appetite

Where are you getting the toy Xwings you use for parts?

Nearly all the toys for "Toybashing" come from resale/thrift/charity/second-hand shops.

I'll occasionally buy something new like the Buzz Light-year vehicles and once in a while I'll hunt down something specific on eBay or Mercari, but usually it's just junk toys from resale shops.

That's great to hear!  The best is yet to come. I've asked our club website/blog guy to bump the full post for this to the front of the line.

One more...

Lol I actually meant what brand etc, but I guess if they are used, it does not matter.

Baltimore literally has NO good used toy/thrift shops :(

Ouch.  You guys don't have Goodwill or Salvation Army?  I try to hit a thrift shop once a week.  Some weeks you get nothing, but over the long run I find a steady stream of cheap toys to convert into terrain.

Brands are varied. Whatever I find .

I have a bunch around me. Nerf Guns seem to be the throw away item around here.

One time I did find an unbuilt Lego Star Wars Republic Gunship. What a find. Then I unloaded it from my trunk one day in a parking garage and drove off without it. Doh.

Tragedy!

Funny you mention Nerf Guns though.  I've not done much with them, but I just picked up 4 dollar store nerf-stule guns with the intention of using them as rocket boosters or some such.  Some folks ( Like "Jan" IIRC) do spectacular things turning NERF into terrain.  I'm only now looking closer at NERF guns as my son has a Tau army and that shiny, slick aesthetic could come via Nerf.

Final post with tons of pictures is up:

Very happy with the final results.  Never built a dual scale ship before, but this will certainly not be the last time.

A few teasers to encourage viewing of the full post...

:o Ellif, that is bloody spectacular. Love what you’ve done and hope the new yellow ship gets similar attention.

Thanks so much, so glad you enjoyed it!

Not sure which project will get attention yet, but right now I've got the following possibilitites
-That yellow ship to be a dual-scale starship in an ork/reaver style.
-Tye-Ranosaur Dino-Trax toy to be a Supa-Stompa
-"My Generation" doll cafe to convert into 1:18 Star Wars Cafe.
-I'm also  acquiring alot of used 40k plastic terrain to build/rebuild into a conventional 40k cityscape.

We'll see which way I go.  The last one is the least innovative, but could be the most likely as my kid and I are having a blast with Grimdark Future right now.   We shall see....
