Song of Blades & Heroes first impression
« on: September 07, 2014, 09:37:16 PM »
Got to play Song of Blade & Heroes at a demo over at my friends house and wrote down some of my first impressions of this somewhat "Beer & Pretzels" but yet charming game. It's very simple in design choices but has enough going for it to make it interesting despite only having 2 stats (!) for units and pre-made unit profiles.

Thanks for posting. My, limited, experience is similar - good fun and simple for quick games.

Where do you live, kaiser?

I have most of the SBH sets, and various spin-offs, so if you're interested in getting together for a couple of games, I have both a terrific garage attic (see blog: http://argonor-wargames.blogspot.dk/ ), and some gaming buddies who like to play the game.  :)
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

I've played a few games of SoBH with my daughters (8 and 11) and they have picked up the game really quickly, and started to get the tactics quickly. I too am surprised at the depth in the game - it seems simple on the surface, but there are enough factors involved to keep things interesting.

I think SoBH encourages you to build your own war band - their are lots of example stats given, but its easy to change things to how you would like them to be.

Currently I live in Aarhus studying and stuff, so I'm low on the monetary front. That being said, if the opportunity arises I would very much like to participate in a few games. That attic is cool, I imagine I'll do something similar once I get a house.
