I use INEPTT for weird war - but I don't have mechs etc but it would be easy to adapt as I do have constructs for Genre III aliens etc.

For a skirmish wierd war game the Pulp Alley rules would work well

Pinnacle has been mentioned once but just wanted to say thay have a skirmish system:

there is also a "weird gangster/pulp" game based on this:

You could also do a mash-up using Ganesha Games rule sets. There is a military themed one called Flying Lead, which you could add creature profiles to. Or you could use Fear and Faith.

Thanks a lot for all the hints but I bought 5 Core yesterday, a compulsive buy, and I love it!

No stats, D6s and a simple but elegant morale system that appeals to the Squad Leader fan in me.

So I think I got my rules, thanks again.

I've never heard of that one. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that I'd enjoy hearing some thoughts on the rules and / or some battle reports!
