Perry's Black Watch
« on: September 10, 2014, 04:39:37 PM »
The latest unit to join my Napoleonic forces, and I don't mind admitting a unit that became a bit of a chore towards the end. I've included some shots from the rear and a wargamers shot looking down on the table, hope you like them.

These are fantastic! I can how they can become a chore in large numbers, from the amount of detail on the equipment, and all the patterned details like tartan, diced socks, & all.

Quite impressed with the turn out!

May I ask where the flags are from? I quite like the look of them, especially the way they are waving; it effectively portrays silk colors.

Thanks for the kind comments, the flags are from Flagdude in the USA. All my Napoleonics have flags from this guy, I really like them. Unfortunately he does not have a UK distributor.

Indeed, a chore they may well have become but you have ended up with a very splendid looking unit that will look great in action. Well done with sticking with it.
They will not force us,
They will stop degrading us,
They will not control us,
We will be victorious!!

Very nice figures!

I never would have been able to finish off a unit of them that size.

Every time I hear about the Black Watch it reminds me of a stupid story from my not at all wayward youth. Sometime in 1982-84 the bands of the Black Watch and the Scot's Guards did a tour of North America. I got to go to one of their shows at the local hockey arena (they needed room to march, didn't they?). It was great!

A year or two later we were starting a Champions Superhero RPG. My character was going to be dressed as a piper from the Black Watch and use sonic attacks from the bagpipes. So I told the group, "He's named 'The Black Watch' and he has a sonic attack...." as you do. But one of the players stopped me with, "Wait! He's called the black watchband? Seriously? The little rubber strap? C'mon?" Days later, after the laughter died down (maybe you had to be there?) I ended up shelving the character and played something wearing tights.

So now, whenever I hear or read 'the Black Watch', my brain's autocorrect changes it to 'The Black Watchband'.

We now return you to your original programming...
Wait, I can't let you give me your last eight dollars. Here's five back.

Excellent job.  FYI Flag Dude come to Salute every year so there are ways to get you his flags if you want them.

Well those nice comments made it all worth while, Stu Rat whatever it is you get up to in your spare time with rubber wristbands and tights is your business, I just play with toy soldiers lol.
Sterling Moose I've never been to Salute, I'll have to make the effort, thanks for the info.
