some interesting details on this pict ..in addition to the above mentioned type of gun which is also an evidence of the supply of material from the supposed to be "neutral" Piedmont to the bands of outlaws that invaded the Pontifical State in 1867..we can also detect , in the backround, a mounted guide, with his red dolman , and, cose to the piece , with coat and forage cap a Piedmontese regular..from diaries of both Pontififical Zouaves and Red Shirts , including descriprion of Red Shirt prisoners that were jailed in San Angelo Castel in Rome after the defeat..quite a few officers where in fact detached Piedmontese Army ones..in many case sporting their almost full uniform and equipment..
The only untrue element is Giuseppe garibaldi himself pointing the gun.....in fact the so called "hero of the 2 words" didnt help at all during the fight..and one of the cause of the Red Shirt's débacle had been his premature escape , with all his staff, from the battlefield...early in the battle..cowardly abandoning his men...if we research deeply , vs the official contaminated history, about this supposed to be hero of the Risorgimento we could discover quite a few nasty things about his behaviour..not least his deadful record and skill as a battlefield leader countered only by Piedmontese support and ability to bribe with money his opponents...
