Resistance and Partisans
« on: September 17, 2014, 09:46:34 AM »
Hi all, hoping the collective wisdom here can help me in my quest for viable miniatures for WW2 resistance fighters (western Europe, so armed with Allied (non-Russian) and/or German weaponry. So far I have found a few in Musketeer Miniatures Inter-War range, a few in Empress Miniatures SCW range and Artizan Design has some in its WW2 range and some from the Thrilling Tales Range. Warlord Games has a few as do Dixon miniatures but are there any others? Am planning a 1000pt Bolt Action list and am having trouble sourcing AT guns (Boys, PIAT etc),mortars, machine gun Teams, LMG's and SMG's, any ideas?
Thanks in advance

wargames foundry French Partisans - WW2034 ... with 2 sten MG, a bren gun, and a guy wearing an adrian helmet ...
Dans les situations critiques, quand on parle avec un calibre bien en pogne, personne ne conteste plus. Y'a des statistiques là-dessus.

It also depends what kind of resistance we are talking about. Many Italian partisans were former soldiers and they wore bits and pieces of their old uniforms (and sometimes the whole thing), so you can try and modify some of the existing Italian ranges - Artizan, Bolt Action, and even Battle honors

it depends also of the period and location ...
in France , from 1943 , in some area, you can found actions by uniformed resitants , such as in Vercors and Auvergne /Limousin ...
the uniforms were mainly robbed "chantiers de jeunesse" blue uniforms :

and don't forget that you can field gendarmes  ;)

BTW, for french resistant, forget the idea of anything except SMG ( sten and german Mp ) LMG ( mainly french 24/29 LMG , some bren ) and may be a Hotchkiss MMG .

My resistance force has some riflemen from what is now Empress Miniatures SCW range which mix well with the Bolt Action figures as both Paul Hicks sculpts. Crusader Miniatures have one pack of figures which are similar to the Artizan ones in scale

You can try the Artizan design Afrika Korps. Some sculpt are good for deserters or with a different paint scheme partisan.

In the same way, Artizan Design Goumier can be good makeshift French resistance using police or "garde civile" uniform resistance

Many thanks for the replies everyone. I was thinking of French Resistance of the later part of the war so a mix of armed civillians is what I'm looking for and I'll be checking some of these out later today. As for light machine guns, could I get away with a Lewis gun just because I want an excuse to get one of Mike Owens thrilling tales figures?
Thanks again....

for late war french resistance, for the "uniformed" type, crusader miniatures group franc and  chasseurs alpins ( but i don't remenber the manufacturer ) will be perfect .
and for LMG, you can use some of the Gorgon studio FFL lmg teams
