New Green Greek Regular/European Volunteer Officer 1822 GWI
« on: September 17, 2014, 07:53:26 PM »
A new addition to the Greek War of Independence range, this sculpt represents a Greek Regular/European Volunteer Officer, the sculpt is based on the only illustration of the first commander Baleste.

Hi Geoff, is there a colour guide for this fine chap?

All the best,

Helen
Best wishes,

Thats an interesting question, the sculpt was based around the above illustration, the officer pictured was the commander of The Battalion Tarella who historically wore black uniforms by the time of Peta many of these had been reduced to rags or faded to shades of grey.. this is how I chose to have him painted with black braid.

I have also had a sculpt painted in a red hussars jacket as the Frenchman Mignac who fought with the Philhellenes and is reported as wearing a red cavalry jacket and as such was thought by the Turks as being an officer.

Helen, there is no right or wrong way to paint him!

Thank you Geoff. Nice work from your painter. Will certainly use your wisdom in this period of uncertainty.

Many thanks,

Helen
