German Infantry metals with the Perry North Africa range
« on: September 25, 2014, 10:24:25 PM »
Just noticed the Perries have added a pack of skirmishing rifles and a Lmg pack to their WW2 North Africa German range but i hadnt seen them before and it states on the photos that they can be used for later periods/theatres. Pack codes are GWW18 AND 19

What periods could they be used for and could these be used for Europe other than in Italy?

Also did the infantry in Italy wear tropical uniforms or the field gey/green that they wore in the rest of Europe at the time ???

Sorry for asking dumb questions but curious as i have a few future plans using these miniatures

The Germans did wear cotton drill uniforms in Sicily, Greece and mainland Italy. Often a mix and match with the temperate uniform. I've seen pictures of temperate jacket with shorts, which is a sort of pre-hipster, hipster look. The Germans also had a 'reed green' work uniform that was quite frequently won as combat dress in warmer climates. Quite a lot of evidence of it being used in the USSR during summer months.

Thank you for the information Carlos :) and thinking of using them for skirmish games set in Italy and with the miniatures in the plastic set of Afrika Korp in long trousers imagine i will have enough variation to create a few different squads.
