Viking Age Farmhouse (28mm)
« on: September 25, 2014, 01:43:16 AM »
We are offering scratch built, completely finished models of farm houses typical of Dark Age Europe, especially Saxon and Viking dwellings in North West Europe.

This will be the first in a series of Dark Ages buildings we will offer, each scratch built. Forthcoming are longhouses (Saxon and Viking), a Saxon church, animal sheds (a barn might be too noble a name for these ramshackle dwellings). They will all be similar in both finish and construction, to these farm houses.

We have three in stock presently, beyond that they will be made to order, taking upto a week to fill a given order (mostly due to paint/glue dry time etc). Any number can be built in that time however, and an order of 10 would still be filled in a week.

Thanks for looking!

Good looking model. If I were on the same Continent as you I would definitely be tempted!

Looks good.

If you need some more inspiration, look for the Viking farm buildings on Bukkoy:

Apart from the Longhouse there is a boat house too.

Thanks for that link, that is a site I had not yet seen!  I am a Viking Age reenactor too, so I am envious of all the places and events on that side of the pond. I feel like European US Civil War reenactors must feel. =)

The island is a great place to visit.

Easier to get to by boat than on foot.

On the subject of boats have you seen the Harald Fairhair?
115 feet long, 25 feet on the beam, 70 tons, and needs 100 to man the oars:

Can we please see a photo of a miniature on a base in profile next to the building? The last time I bought a dark age building, it turned out that it was so small that there was no way a 28mm figure on the base could even have fit in the door! Aerial shot with the figure gives no sense of scale at all.

I added some close up shots with miniatures on the base. For scale reference, they are Gripping Beast plastics, if that helps (I do admittedly find them a touch smaller than some other of the beefier metal miniatures out there).

Hope that helps.
