Vive l'Orque!
« on: September 30, 2014, 11:53:25 AM »
Hi,

Just finished painting the remnants of my old starter box orcs. These are from an old Warhammer starter box, not quite sure which edition. I bought them used, partly assembled, partly broken and partly badly painted.

After stripping I proceded to repair and repaint them. Astute readers may notice a few ork heads in there -- a couple were missing at the final parts tally and I had to dig into the parts bin to make ends meet.

Not sure if these guys use Pepsodent or what...

Maybe I should paint my Mantic orcs next. I'm sure I have a bunch somewhere. Or maybe slave through the Skull Pass box, that one I actually bought myself...

The Old (6th Edition I believe) Plastic Lads look SPLENDID. I love the skin tones you chose; AND your brushwork is OUTSTANDING. GREAT WORK!

Thanks.

Hmmm... 4th ed was High Elves and Goblins, 5th was Bretonnia and lizards, 6th was Empire and Orcs, 7th was Skull Pass (stunties and gobbos) and then 8th was Island of Blood (High Elves and Skaven)?

I'm actually quite fond of these figures. They are very good for what they are and rather cleverly designed to mitigate the limitations of the single part body design.

In case some youngsters wonder, the earlier editions didn't come with figures. 3rd was just hardback book, 2nd was actually boxed but didn't contain figures (they came with cardboard counters) and 1st... not quite sure but I think it was just a booklet.
