Jugula review and first game
« on: October 06, 2014, 07:48:00 PM »
A long long time ago my wargaming life received one of its first powerful impulses through the game of Spacehulk, now in its third (and second limited, haha) reincarnation. It was one of those delightful crossovers between board- and miniature tabletop wargames that played fast and furious and still looked terrific. Every once in a while another such game comes along and this year it is Jugula by Studio Tomahawk.

Nice review for a really good tactical game. And your Ludus, seen in your blog, looks great !

In your review, you mention Vox Populi counters, are they components of the game? There was a game mooted some time back for a rule set caled VP.
Cheers,

The game does not provide counters. We tracked our Vox Populi score with a D10 but I have seen innovative ways like placing audience in a gallery, the amount of pawns or figures indicating your Vox Populi score.

Sounds like a really good game. I am looking for a new gladiator system to play. I just may have to look into this one. Have 8 gladiators in my painting line up right now too.

Jugula is not a real simulation game, but it's a fun tactical game with a deck building system.

I've tried to explain the game system here :http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=60461.45

And here are some Jugula tokens :
