Willow movie Brownies in 28mm suggestions needed?
« on: October 18, 2014, 09:08:31 PM »
I am looking for minis suitable to use as Brownies (rustic archer/spear sorts as per the movie) to go with 28mm minis. So I was thinking maybe 10mm or ideally 6mm? May have to be even smaller... Would still like some detail.

But would like to see pics of size comparison and more importantly suggested mini manufacturer that could pass as Brownies. Hope to do a mini army of said little mights for my woods and to possibly skirmish Willow inspired scenarios.

+1 on the Eureka Miniatures ones (the below is a mix of miniatures you'll have to wade through):

Though the fanticide faeries were on sale at Northstar, so maybe you can still grab some. They were in their bargain section.

Edit: Just checked discount ended yesterday or some days earlier...

Great suggestion problem is their Brownies are more akin to Mini Satyrs with hoofed feet. Sprites are interesting but still not what I was looking for. See http://eurekamin.com.au/product_info.php?products_id=12358

Certainly like the snail idea, and that seems to be one big squirrel - thinking some of the Reaper Familiars could be used for mounted conversions...

Maybe WarMaster wood elves might work but they are too big I think?

And you would be correct the brownies started life as 10mm satyrs

Looking at images of Brownies again, mixing some 6mm or 10mm celts might give a good mix.

How about a mix of Gallic 'warband' and 'bowmen' models from Pendraken (10mm)? Images of some of the greens may be seen HERE.

Pendraken seem best option so far - though concerned 10mm is still too big. Their fantasy ranges seem to offer a few possibilities especially together with Celts but at least the fantasy minis come in smaller sized packs - not thinking an overly large army say 50 minis at most -  see http://www.pendraken.co.uk/Fantasy-c21/Wood-Elves-sc171/ and http://www.pendraken.co.uk/Fantasy-c21/Barbarians-sc141/.

Maybe the Gnomes by Peter Pig - halfway down this page, would do?
