[KICKSTARTER] Paranoia RPG
« on: October 26, 2014, 02:41:21 PM »

Mongoose have launched another KS campaign (without figures.....at least currently ::)). This time for a new version of the much loved Paranoia. Not much detail on the mechanisms yet but seems to be card based actions/equipment/mutations etc and dice based skill tests.
Hopefully it goes back to the smart humour of 1st ed rather than the pure slapstick of 2nd ed or the abysmal 5th ed.

Initial rough draft of the character generation routine here:

Base game buy in (full game physical product) is £30 with worldwide free shipping, print and play £18.

Not sure why they decided to do this rather than relaunch the XP (sorry Mr Gates) version they already have. Anyone know the story behind letting it and the figure range go OOP?

I saw this too and wondered much the same. Paranoia was a staple of our gaming in the 80s, it was just brilliant.

I don't think they've finished fulfilling it yet, though I did get my 3 Rogue Trooper figures ok.

No interest in the RPG...but I'd like some more Paranoia figures

No. Hopelessly late with completing Judge Dredd and failed miserably with Rogue Trooper until recently, but dribs and drabs rather than a full commitment to complete.

Actually its two years since pledge collection. 23 months post delivery date!  ???  ::)

I was so tempted by Rogue Trooper, but ended up giving it a pass because it was Mongoose-- I'm glad I did.

My made up theory is that the pledges from Paranoia will pay for completion of Rogue Trooper and then Paranoia will have delays until another project can be started to get a cash injection to pay for the previous one.

Well, Mongoose changed miniature manufacturers in their previous projects, and are not including miniatures in Paranoia.

However, James Wallis is late in his other project, and another one of the designers is designing another KS'ed RPG. Artist James Holloway is *not* in the project.

Internationals should be interested in the free shipping (or rather, no additional shipping fees since shipping is never free).

The two-set Violet (?) pledge level is the best purchase and includes the forms SG.

Myself, I don't know anyone else in the SF Bay Area who wants a set, and $50 for the boxed set and no SG's is too expensive for me. At least for now, I'll wait for retail.

Pick up the Salvage Crew KS miniatures. $30 gets you 29 post-apocalyptic metal miniatures suitable for Paranoia: Death Leopard members, IntSec guards, and security droids! 3 days left!
