Well the action continues at Mochkirch - and it's going to be a typical Russian Prussian bloodbath. Here is a link to a report of lasts night's action:

A link to a quirky thing about Piquet dice rolls:

And a couple of pics to whet your appetite.

Love to see those massed Battalions closing to draw conclusions, with predatory Horse lurking on the flanks!

Thanks, the buildings are home made. They are artists mounting board with cereal packet slate roofs. I actually need to rebase them on some 4mm ply (they are on art board at present) - like the ones below (I use MDF not card these days) - to give them some weight and strength, and to stop some slight warping. I like making buildings because it's different to painting figures every day. I'm glad you like them.

BTW, for those not in the know, 2mm MDF (which you can cut with a 'Stanley' knife) is cheap as chips by the sheet. You can buy it on line in reasonably sized pieces from picture framing suppliers (it's used as backing). Last time, I ordered it through my local art shop, I think I paid £23 for five sheets 4' x 3' (and because he got it from his normal suppliers there was no delivery charge). Warbases ( http://war-bases.co.uk/index.php?route=common/home ) do a range of VERY USEFUL doors and windows (also cheap as chips) that cut down on lots of work. I reckon 28mm buildings cost as little as £3 each to make and finish.

Impressive...I would love to see a WIP making one of these buildings!!!

Interesting comments about the MDF...I will give it a try as I have a paper model house that I want to transfer to something durable.

It just so happens, that I'm about to make three or four new SYWish buildings. I've got the MDF, I've got the Warbases windows (very nice diamond paned ones) shutters and doors, etc. All I need to buy is some thin balsa strips from my guy down at the art shop for the 'panelling' because it's quicker than cutting thin lengths of card. The new buildings will all be thatched, though I have not decided if the new ones will be 'teddy fur' as per the old or 'towelling'. I've recently seen some of the latter and I like the 'look' - not realistic, but hell, we are talking impressionist war game figures / terrain here. I will buy some towel from Boyes and see how it goes - i'll just buy a meter so it will not break the bank, and if it goes wrong, so what.

Ioannis, as a full time professional figure painter to the more discerning client, I will not take painting lessons from you  lol. But, you are on. You paint it red and I'll build us a house to sin in - Hmmm, a brothel I think.

Good thing, I was referring to 'my way' of painting red and not to 'the only' way of painting red...

Perhaps, we do a 'red' house then................
