Speaking of goading: I need to pull my own finger out get to work on some scenery of my own, as well as those cars from Antenocities that have been sitting around for nearly a year now.... ::)

Slick paintwork too! Try and convince Andy to bring this to BLAM 17!

Thanks chaps!

Steve mate, that is my game for BLAM! I'm thinking of having 4 cadet judges on a training mission. Sector in a rampage! Basically each player would have a judge and the idea would be to have all sorts of different crimes on the board somewhere. Depending on what you arrest or stop or save would depend on the 'Law Points' you judge would receive. From rescuing kittens out of robot trees, to speeding bikes, to Fattie demonstrations, to rampaging robots and riots, each crime would have a value. Judge with most points wins.

I'm thinking Judge Dredd and Judge Anderson could be some sort of support or event card. Maybe have points to pick up different weapons or special ammo for the Lawgivers?

Andy: Have you played the old GW Judge Dredd board game?
If not, see if you can borrow a copy as it should give you plenty of ideas for how to approach your planned idea.

it is a good, fun game too, which is a nice bonus.

No, I've not played it Paul. I'll see if I can get a look at it somewhere. But the big question.....is it BLAM worthy? You're the perfect man to ask, your games are always fast and fun!

I should have said as well, that game Colin and myself were playing was 7TV Dredd and not the actual rules and scenario to be played at BLAM.

Thanks Steve! It's no where near they way I want it to look mate! I still want more height and busy-ness about it. I think I'm getting there though. As I keep on saying though.....I just cant find the parts! :'(

Just for ideas, it will be brilliant inspiration.
You will have to adapt it for tabletop, but should easily fit into a simple game system style, I have confidence in you fellas sorting that one out (assuming this is a family effort and you are roping Colin in, of course).

If you cant get your hands on it, let me know.
I will borrow Bert's copy and send it to you on loan.
He wont mind.
In fact, I reckon he would be keen to as he LOVES Dredd and your board.

I really like how you've done it all - meticulous attention to detail and consistency on a high level in such a huge endeavour. And it keeps growing :)

Mason- you'll need to get Bert to come along this year! I'll save him a spot on the table! ;)

Pahvivalmiste- Thanks! I've still got a long way to go, to get the look I want! o_o

Great work so far with everything Andym  8) The paintwork is outstanding with the OSL and neon effects and all!  :o

How did you fare on the civilian/pedestrian side of things, IIRC you were looking at 1/50 scale pedestrians etc a while ago?

Have you considered using sort of upside-down pyramid shapes for buildings? Meaning that there would be more things on the upper floors than the footprint of the building would suggest. Since you have such high buildings I think they might not even intervene with the gameplay (moving minis etc) on the board that way yet give nice busy look and airspace to the table.  o_o

He was all set to come to 16 but illness struck him down and he really did not feel up to it or want to spread the lufgy around.
He will be there this year, though.

Also; he is well up for sending you the board game as a loan if you want to take a look at it.
He loves the game and agrees it should give you a few ideas for your game, especially the bit where you can stitch up the other players.

Which can be one of the best parts of BLAM games, I reckon.

My thinking was smaller the further up the buildings go. After trying an early game a while ago, we found the original white square-ish building I made became a big bottle neck for a game! My newest line of thought will mean that the upper levels may just be there for show.

The civilian thing.....I ordered a bundle of crappy plastic 1:48 scale model railway people from eBay. If you're willing to wait for the delivery from China they're quite cheap! I've got 300 guys(and girls) to base and very quickly block paint! I'm not going to spend any time doing highlights. I figure the mass of them as opposed to the individual figures will give the look I'm going for. 2foot rule and all that!

When it comes to gaming with the civilians, I'm thinking of just being obstacles for LOS. I could move them about randomly during play, but that might take too much time. :?

They work for me, mate.
They will provide a nice crowded look to the table with minimal effort.
 8) 8)

As for how to use them: How about just making them 'scenery' that effectively blocks LOS, as you suggest, but only to those on the same level, whilst also slowing movement down to half if a Judge wants to move 'through' them*?
A bit like how most people use trees on a standard table.
 ;)

*Just leave the odd gap on the crowd bases to place a Judge if he finishes his move 'in' a crowd.
