Baltic Pagans for Lion Rampant?
« on: November 09, 2014, 04:23:53 PM »
All,
Just got the rules. I'm leaning towards Baltic Crusades or Wars of the Roses. For the former, what is out there in 28mm plastic to represent the Pagan tribes of the Baltic region? Could I get away with using Vikings?

Absolutly not. Pagan tribes are about 3 centuries after the plastic Vikings (from GB or others)...You must use the metal GB :

I think you could but make sure they wear enough fur and not to much chain mail!
I think the dark age warriors box could be used for that! ( also by gripping beast)
Thats what I would do
In hoc signo vinces

Hi Nick

I used Gripping Beast, Jomsviking minis for my Baltic Pagans, and if I would build them in Plastic I would mix the Gripping Beast Viking and Dark Age Warriors, don´t see way not, as the difference in equipment amongst the baltic tribes and the Vikings was not that big, for example the Gutes at Gotland used old "viking" equipment fighting the invasion of the Danes in 1361 as the escavation of the Visby massgraves shows.  Try add some "Eastern/Russian" equipment to get a Baltic flavour of the Hoast.

You find a bunch of pictures of my Baltic Pagans as well as a bunch of Baltic Crusades AAR´s at my blog[/url].

and some of them here to:
