Can Anyone Identify This Color?
« on: March 31, 2015, 10:52:26 PM »
The red on the shirts and the reddish-leather.  Can anyone recognize the brand and the color?

I'm struggling to find just the right red leather color, preferably in Vallejo.

Looks like old Citadel Dark Flesh to me. I used to use this a lot for red leather - I'd guess it's been highlighted and washed with something akin to Chestnut Ink/Ogryn Flesh Wash.

Can't help you regarding the colour, but why not asking Moiterei himself  ;)

GW Dark Flesh is now called Doombull Brown and the red looks like GW Mephiston Red.

Could be Vallejo  cavalry  brown with leather brown highlights.

Could be Panzer Aces Shadows Flesh, Game Colour Dark Fleshtone or perhaps even Flat Brown or Calvary Brown? Just some suggestions  :)

Humbrol used to do a very nice 'leather brown' that looked very much like your photo.

Bandit, I'm a big fan of your Quar.   :)

I have tried Citadel's dark flesh, Vallejo's Cavalry Brown, Saddle Brown, some other reds, edged/highlighted, washed with Mud, Sepia, Dark and Light Tone Dip, and it never looks right.  I even have some real-life leather straps in the "right" color red-brown.

I can get it to look alright but it looks like the dark recesses of the hands and face (for which I use Dark Flesh, so of course it matches).
