Best/cheapest EM4 Trooper gun replacements?
« on: November 08, 2014, 04:16:29 PM »
Looking for an inexpensive way to swap out the EM4 plastic trooper lasguns for something a bit more 'colonial'.  I found this guy who has swapped them out for Warzone imperial guns:

.... which i think looks totally perfect HOWEVER... it looks like I'd need to buy the 'Bag of 80 plastic minis' deal from Prince August for near 30 quid after shipping, and it would also means manually removing the guns from the arms included.  Another concern is that the mini's I'd be removing them from are actually pretty cool in their own right so would be a shame to then have to find OTHER guns to replace them as well!

But I really like the look of them and they fit the double-grip stance ;_;

I'm not too keen on doubling my costs with the EM4 metal replacement rifles as they aren't quite the style I'd like. I'd rather avoid huge GW guns, so can anyone recommend available sprues of guns that:

A) look like the warzone weapons / pulse rifles / look REALLY GOOD.
b) have a flat underneath that would allow a simple conversion to the existing double-grip trooper arms.
c) Inexpensive to obtain?

I've also looked at Hasslefree pulse rifles and Heresy (no flat bottom - conversion would be a pain). At this stage I'm kinda thinking I'll have to suck up the cost of defacing the warzone minis....

Thanks for any advice :)

Victoria Miniatures and Anvil Industry both sell sci-fi rifles.
But they seem to be aiming for the 40K market, so they may not be what you're looking for.

At the very least you could buy the Warzone stuff deface half of the models and throw the weaponless guys away and still have a ton of models left.

I wouldnŽt put these in the cheap compartment, considering how many you probably need. But IŽll put them up anyway.

You make a damn good point. Since I'm only looking at a few 5-6 man squads which will have Leaders and heavy weapons that actually reduces the number required quite a bit.... and that means it might not be so hard finding replacements for the warzones too...in fact that would give some more variety.  I have a funny feeling you just made me realise I'm a bit daft  lol

Sincere thanks to all, I'll take a look at the recommended ones too and figure it out :)

I can run you through making your own for nothing (depending on what you have in stock) If your not I'll arange some from the first corps range as I'm working on some new bits.I've modified the post as the link photos dont show the weapons clearly enough next to the trenches.

Hasslefree?

I'm sure they have 'colonial' type guns available.

Hasslefree have a ton of CAD weapons as well. So you got a lot of choice.

I had some of these once and used the heresy miniatures assault rifles. Inexpensive and do the job nicely. I used their McDaddy pistol as well!

Also, Mad Robot do some that could work well for you.

My small order from them was fast to arrive, and very nicely cast.

Shipping to UK wasn't *too* horrible either, but for more items (like, say, 30 rifles), it's likely to be more sensible in proportion to the overall cost of the purchase.
