Victorian Buildings
« on: September 02, 2008, 11:11:49 AM »
I know - these are paper buildings, and some folks do not like paper buildings. They are, however, a means-to-the-ends for poor underpayed people like me, so I would like to ask a question:

Would these buildings do for an British city (like London, Birmingham, Glasgow) of the 19th Cty.?

Or are they too 'American'?

As you may sense from this question, I feel tempted to do some Victorian gaming of some sort....  :'(  ;)

They would be fine IMHO , go for the brick ones rather than wooden ones.

Have a look at Oliver Twist films and they are pretty similar

go for the brick ones rather than wooden ones.

They come in pre-printed sets only, but I could avoid the wooden buildings for a Britain set-up.... and probably other industrialized countries as well....

They would be fine, as Lowtardog says avoid the timber ones, although parts of the East end of London would still have been timber in the later 1800's.

Yeah... so now all I have to do is start planning for some Weird Sherlock Holmes Adventures using Rattraps ruleset(s)... and find and buy the minis needed... not to mention buying and building the city... and painting the minis....  ;D

That reminds me: I think I've seen some examples of very fine Holmes and Watson minis on here somewhere...? Anyone remember where to buy such mere necessities?

I think, Moriarty and Fu Manchu are going to plot something terrible.... damn, now the Unholy Fire of Gaming burns in my veins again... will this never stop???  lol

Foundry did a Holmes and Watson (Moriarty and Tiger Moran, too). I have these figures somewhere. If no other photo of them shows up I'll see if I can take a pic.

Don't know if they're still in production or not.

Sadly the Foundry ones are probably the nicest, but are the most expensive. I use the westwind ones and they paint up well.  :)
As for Moriarty there is one from Foundry, but the best is from Paroom Station. He is based on one of the illustrations from the original stories in whichever magazine they were published (The Strand?)
Fu Manchu - go with the Pulp miniatures one.
