Hey, wars have always been good for some businesses.......

Oskar Schindler: In every business I tried, I can see now, it wasn't me that failed. Something was missing. Even if I'd known what it was, there's nothing I could have done about it because you can't create this thing. And it makes all the difference in the world between success and failure.

Emilie Schindler: Luck?

[Schindler kisses his wife's hand and smiles]

Oskar Schindler: War.

'So do all who see such times. But that is not for us to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that we are given.'

I know war has always been good for business, in fact some people would say that's why they are fought. But really. Haven't we supposed to have moved on a bit. I don't see adverts for the Royal Mail sending cheap parcels to Afghanistan, or is that in the pipe line?

The following address format is to be followed:

Please ensure you comply with all the dimensions (e.g. 2kg max, shoe box size, etc) and dangerous air cargo regulations (e.g. no aerosols, etc). These are listed further down the page.

Yes I know the royal Mail do a service, but my point is they dont make tv adds showing the front line. I think the Sainsburys add  shows that the Great War has finally slipped into historical obscurity in the minds of the British general public. It used to be a subject that invoked the futility of war in the minds of the public with every family touched by a loss. What does the add achieve? Sainsburys were sending Chocolate to the front, they got paid for it. Plum and Apple jam manufacturers are missing out here and they need to make an add too.

When 'Dave' gets back from Oz petition him to pass legislation requiring any supermarket chain wanting to cash in on the sacrifices of the Great War to stock Maconochie's tinned rations and solely those for a week, save maybe for a bit of hard tack and some bully beef. That should bring the Great War it home to the punters and to Sainsbury's shareholders too.

Has it been pulled due to complaints? I haven't actually seen it on telly. Had to watch it online.

Well, there's this commentary, albeit not directly about WWI

totally impossible to teach this lesson to wargamers and reenactors I guess, who generally see their hobby like medicine without side-effects   lol

former user, isn't it time to let it go?
You're starting to come across as political.
It's only supposed to be us Brits that are foolishly obsessed with the war, but you seem to be quite keen on reigniting old arguments too.

Really - you'll get this thread locked.
