A few folk have asked about basing, although typically elsewhere, so here's my step by step guide to basing for 6mm.
This is my full blown vegatation on rough ground look. The key is to make it a really busy base so this means a few varied flocks, both in type and tone.
Start with the plastic base, which I get custom cut at a great price from:

I then score this to give a rough surface to give more purchase. I also sand the corners to round and the edges to little smoother.

As it's rare for ground to be actually flat, bar a cricket pitch and the like, I then add a little irregularity with milliput.

Then a reddish brown coat of paint...

...followed by a mid flat brown...

...and a light brown.

This is a basic flock mix, I've mixed it to look like what the longer flock might look like were it mowed, or just shorter. All are applied onto PVA glue.

I apply it in an irregular manner.

Then the hairy flock that most of us have.

Which goes on in patches.

Next is the foam, often sold as bushes and in various sizes.

I tend to chop it up to get smaller pieces.

Then onto the moss, which I've plucked from a mate's lawn, plain moss to the left and dyed moss to the right.

Again chopped, tiny amounts go on, if you want to put big bushes on I find putting this on first and then putting the bush on top gives maximum bushy bushiness.

Finally a flower mix... the best source I've found for these is:

And the jobs done

My abandoned blog is full of 6mm, typically before my slug-led diversion into 28mm, have a butchers:
