More "X-Wing" related paints this week...

Star Wars - The Old Republic

Two SWTOR Sith Empire Mk VI Interceptors. Shapeways design by Mels Minis.

“The Mark VI Supremacy-class starfighter, also known as the ISF interceptor or simply the Mk VI interceptor, was a model of fighter used by the Sith Empire during the Great Galactic War.
The Empire utilized this model of starfighter during the attack on the Republic shipyards in the Sluis sector and the Battle of Alderaan. Darth Malgus also made use of these vessels during the Battle of Ziost and the Sacking of Coruscant. The Mark VI had minimal shielding and was very lightly armed.” from starwars.wikia

Star Wars - The New Jedi Order
“The Yuuzhan Vong ("Children of Yun-Yuuzhan", also called the Chosen Race, and sometimes incorrectly abbreviated to Vong, which implied that one was disowned by one's family and one's gods) were a sentient species which nearly destroyed the New Republic, and were responsible for the deaths of nearly 365 trillion sentients during their invasion of the galaxy.” Wookiepedia
For me the Vong story line was simply the best of the expanded universe so far. I know that many did not liked them and think that they are not fitting into the SW universe, for me they were a very believable villainous race.

Yuuzhan Vong Yorik-et aka a “Coralskipper” - Shapeways design by Mels Minis.

"The yorik-et, referred to as a coralskipper or skip by New Republic forces, was the Yuuzhan Vong version of a starfighter during their invasion of the galaxy.
The yorik-et was a bioship made from yorik coral, since the Yuuzhan Vong despised mechanical technology as an abomination. It was grown instead of manufactured so no two coralskippers looked alike. Despite this, every coralskipper shared some basic features, such as a dark canopy, and a triangular body. The coralskipper's pilot could communicate with the craft via a special mask called a cognition hood at the cockpit." from starwars.wikia

I could simply not resist the urge to do a small conversion. The wings are old plastic GW Dark Eldar jetbike parts covered in Milliput, giving a rough surface by poking in the Milliput with a sculpting tool. Best thing - the Vong are very good printed in WSF! The rough surface works fine since the Coralskippers should be rocklike...
So the two blue Skips are FUD while the brown conversion is based on a WSF print.

Nice repaints!

I am waiting for my pre-order of Star Wars Armada to arrive, it is likely to spark some SW:XW gaming as well!

Excellent Agis! 8) 8) 8)

I diffinatley prefer the two Interceptors over the couple of Vong ships....but you know what they say....two Vongs don't  make a right! ;)

The repaints and ...paints are all superb, and I say that even though alternate ships don't interest me at all (they just never look right and some look like they're trying too hard - even ones from some of the games).

The end result though looks spectacular.  I almost gave in and picked up X-Wing on Black Friday but I held strong!

Thanks folks.

Well - all the expanded universe models are just an option.
The core SW XW game is IMO rock solid and the starter box is also very affordable - German Version with 3 pre-painted ships around 22,00 € at Amazon...

The game itself is also great fun, simple yet engaging fighter rules with a strong tournament Scene.
The amazing fan Support with Shapeways models and all the rest just rounds it all up for me.

I started out buying the German version in a small specialist store when I visited Flensburg with my family summer of '13, and was instantly hooked, and my daughters (then 10 and 7) were able to play the game after a 5-min intro, later buying another starter (English). For the sake of my gaming buddies, I have archived the German worded cards, though, as not all Danes are equally versed in that particular language.

Nice paint jobs with the new ones, have to confess that as an old school SW person I didn't even know these alternative types existed.

Btw, where can one find replacement and new flight stands suitable for X-Wing use?

I must say those coralskipper really look the part. I always preferred the more exotic Vong idea rather then re-doing the ideas from the movie over and over. (how many deathstar equivalents are there in the extended universe?)

Very nice painting and I'm glad to see someone is actually doing this.

Usually you hear the "you could always repaint them" comments but never actually see someone doing it.

So far I've steered away from X-Wing because painting and modelling is the part I really like and pre-paints just seem to kill all the fun in that.

And quite frankly I'm afraid if I repaint them I can't match the factory quality -- now that would be embarrassing, wouldn't it?

The Inquisitors TIE Advanced from “SW - Rebels”,
again an after market Shapeway model by Mel’s Minis, highly recommended!

We truly live in great times for modelers and gamers alike, so many model choices of great quality!

Hi again,  1st website update in 2015!

A happy new 2015 for all of you! Keep healthy, all the rest comes by itself...

SWTOR Sith Fury Interceptor and Mk VI Interceptors - all by Mel’s Miniatures

SWTOR Imperial Fury Interceptor - the ship all Empire Force sensitive player eventually get in the MMORPG.
Shapeways design by Mel’s Minis.

“Featuring an advanced hyperdrive and state-of-the-art sub-light engines, the Fury is the most versatile starship in the Imperial fleet. Though initially designed for high-priority military missions, the Fury has become a favorite among Sith Lords and the latest models have been engineered accordingly. The Fury’s angular design combines the maneuverability of smaller Imperial fighters like the Interceptor with impressive armament that rivals some of the Empire’s larger military vessels.
The Fury also features a newly designed set of ‘strike foils’ that remain down for travel but can be expanded in short range combat to maximize the ship’s agility and range of firepower. On the interior, adjustments have been made to match to the luxury and aesthetics demanded by the Sith. No expenses have been spared.” from the SWTOR homepage. (http://www.swtor.com/holonet/starships/fury)

More pics here: http://www.adpublishing.de/html/x-wing.html

I played a game with the model using the Decimator rules for the Fury, worked nicely!
