Some pictures of a Thirty Years War game we played last Thursday (ruleset: Argad).
The whole story is too long to explain (10 players, it was the 3rd game in a campaign, each player had his/her own objectives and secret story, there was a lot of secret discussions and negociations...)
The town of Neukalen, the countryside, and the beginning of action:
A group of civilian refugees (in fact, robbers and marauders in disguise):
Otto Flammekueche, an officer of the Imperial army, escorts a prisoner he must bring to general Tilly:
One of his men talks with the guards of the tower:
But they decide that the prisoner will be better guarded in the provost's house:
A cavalryman hidden in the vegetation
A large group of monks…
…the garrison looks at them with suspicion and forbids them to enter the town.
When the monks arrive near the tower, they take off their robes …they have skirts underneath! They were Scottish mercenaries in disguise!
Surprised by the mercenaries and the robbers, the Imperial troops had to run off the town for a while, and join with the garrison which was guarding the bastions near the bridge; then at the end of the game they both counterattack and retake the town:
