Lemax Scales
« on: September 03, 2008, 08:35:47 AM »
Has anyone made a list of what Lemax products are suitable for 28 mm (and/or other scales)?

Or should we try to compile one here?

There's been several threads on the forum about Lemax stuff but no easy overview, so if all those of you who own pieces they use for gaming tell us what you have, and which scale you use it for, I'd use the answers to compile a list I'd then upload to the forum for all to refer to (and, of course I'll update it at a regular basis if new answers arrive  :)  )

I just ordered some stuff from here: http://www.lemaxstore.nl

I'll make photos with minis as soon as I get the stuff (somewhen after Oct. 1st)

I posted a few items to avoid as being way too big for 28mm on this old thread:

Thanks, I'll make a positive AND a negative list, then  :)

Nicestuff, a list would be great.  A complete Mid west small town , painted for £30 a piece, wow.

I tried to figure out something from the link posted by Argonor. All figures are of a height between 5-7 cm, so they are not suitable for 28mm figures. The scenic items might work, but everybody needs to see them "in flesh" to decide. I also think that animals are very large, too. If anyone has more experience in Lemax, please advise. It will be much welcome!

However everything in their list is marvellous and I think that could provide some nice inspiration for painting civilians and maybe some conversions.

Yes, many of them can be quite easily calculated to be too big from the stated measurements. I'm not going to list those as negatives, as they're obviously not in 28 mm scale. I bought some graveyard stuff and some trees (winter willows and palm trees) as I'm sure they fit (there is an old thread somewhere with pics of the graveyard stuff used in a pulp game).

Deathwing used a bunch of the Halloween stuff for his graveyard game.

People and animals won't work. Buildings work okay with 25mm and 28mm stuff, but doors will look small with the heroic 28mm (30mm+) size. Benches or other furniture type pieces will look big. Docks can look okay if you either ignore the equipment on them or file it off.

This has been my experience so far.

Luckily the buildings will mostly be used as 'terrain' as the model bases often will not fit on the building base - so the minis will be standing at a lower level and at a distance  ;)

I think the 'door-issue' stands true for much of the wargaming terrain out there (both resin and paper). Both some resin arab buildings (Hovels) and the paper Whitewash City are somewhat undersized for heroic 28 mm. I can live with that.
