About a year ago I talked with Zafarelli about how cool it would be to have a fantasy tavern for gaming brawls in. Later on, I once again browsed through the page of
imbrianarts.com, pondering what to order from them to add to he lead mountain.
A few days later, Zafarelli sent me link a link to their
Beer and D6s game, they had uploaded:
http://www.imbrianarts.com/beer%20and%20d6s/play/index.htmlThat was all it took to finally decide to order stuff from them no matter what! The rules were exactly what I was looking for!
The other project I was involved in somehow lost its momentum so I took a break from painting more and more undead and started construction on this small skirmish game. One of the first Ideas I had was that it would have been nice to have all that stuff happening inside of an old barrel, cut it in half perhaps? I browsed the net for used barrels and even asked around at breweries but to no success. Most of them would have been to large and heavy and all of them were simply too expensive.
A colleague mentioned having noticed a roughly barrel-shaped flower pot somewhere, and Ifound this on the web:
I used the saw in the picture to cut the top off(which I will be using as the pub walls) and put the bottom on my head.
I used some leftover wood cut in a threequarter-circle as a base and refined the shape with a carpet knife. The plastic seems to be some kind of vinyl, so it really was easy to manipulate:
In my mind, the inside walls of the pub had to be covered with some kind of trappings(Is that the right word?), but it had to be flexible because of the flimsyness of the flower-pot material. I found some structured wallpaper that completely matched my ideas and glued it to the inside with silicon.
After that, I began cutting up balsa wood for the wooden floor planking:
Timberwork made of wooden strips was added to the wall:
I added some more timberwork and details and a strip from a picture frame to be the frontal border to the game. Then, I flour-bombed everything:
While doing so, I flour-bombed the furniture as well:
I hope I can post some more pictures in the next few days...
