White Russian Forces (cossack cavalry update 02.12.08)

I took some ne wpics last night tried to use natural daylight bulb and a lighter background.

They look a little better hope you can see.






So there are a couple of different group shots the officer and then a couple of groups of 3

and heres the ironclads it seems that they want to be dark and shady no matter what 



Hope you like them, seeing them like this shows me that faces and flesh are not my thing really but my general painting is reasonable.

I think though that if I go for the kill or cure method of painting flesh till its right it may kill me

Thanks I have 5 raggeds with flesh and base colours complete. Faces rubbish but will redo tonight.

Yes, I know of Copplestone's reds, I plan to buy them. Might buy some whites as well and do some conversions to them or something.

Those guys look nice, you might want to give them some more lighting in the future though, as they're kinda dark.

I agree that its a bit dark my photography is going backwards at the moment 

try different lamp angles next time

Hi

Finally got round to doing the Raggeds and photographing them:

 

I painted the furry hats first but thought they were a bit grimy so tried to do the others a bit lighter?

What do you reckon? This was just before my eyes and flesh crisis post.

So then armed with advice I took on three White Officers, the eyes well they looked a lot better before I photo'd them so more practice I think

Hope you like them I think they are the best three I have done yet and so does the wife who is very honest with me  sometime too honest

Some Czechs in the pipeline and then Cavalry with the never ending buildings project which has got so far but no further.

The thread on Sikh cavalry/Bengal lancers the other day made me want to paint up a unit of Indian horse that have been sitting around for months. I got them out, looked at them, and then looked at them some more.

They are still sitting there, I haven't even started cleaning them up. I really, really want them done, but I don't want to do them. What is it with me and cavalry?

They are slowly getting there, I think I need to thin down the paint some more, in the flesh they look great but then you photo them and you think hmmmm.

Once this force is done I will have an army or 2 of chinese and an army of whites with my friend Khartoum with his reds we can have some real T&T scraps.

On that front do you have that whizzy card maker link for T&T I seem to have lost it somewhere.

With horses I think its the fact that they are different from biped figures with a larger but not too large suface area, Also they are usually one colour unless you want to be really clever
