English coat of arms at Agincourt?
« on: December 08, 2014, 01:24:48 PM »
Can anyone help me with a source of coat of arms for some of the 'minor' English knights at Agincourt. Either 'net based or in print.

Finding the major players seems fairly straightforward, but I'd like some of my men at arms to be sporting the heraldry of lesser knights.

Thanks,
Ray.

There are a few companies that produce flags/standards for the period that may be of use.

Thanks Matt. Those links are great, although the shields and banners are for the more senior English Knights at Agincourt.

What I'm really after are the 'other' men at arms who made up the bulk of the forces.

After a fair bit of searching I've finally come across a list of names from Agincourt.

Lists names of lances for each retinue and also number of archers.  :D

There was quite a collection of HYW coats of arms, English and French, in the old Ian Heath 'Medieval Armies Vol. 1' from WRG. Not as serviceable as the somewhat numerous alternatives mentioned above, but might fill the gaps those have left.

Thanks Arlequín. I've picked up a copy of the WRG title to have a look, there's some other interesting areas covered within it, so it'll come in handy for some other side projects.
