Help wanted - Valkyria Chronicles miniature game
« on: June 02, 2010, 12:09:08 PM »
I don't know if you guys know about this excellent PS3 game, but I think it lends itself perfectly for a tabletop skirmish game.
Here is a picture of how the troops look like in the game

The game is taking place in a alternate ww2 universe.

Here is where I need some help; I need to find some miniatures who look like the ones on the picture, I have done some green stuff work in the past so adding some belts or padding is no problem but the base of the miniatures should be as good as possible.

Someone at the TMP boards is also thinking about this and found the tank used in the game as a paper model, which can be found here : http://valkyria2.jp/emov_download01.html

For the rules, I was thinking of using the Anima tactics rules because it plays fast and the special rules can also be translated in a decent way.

That was a very fun game.  I had considered trying to play it table-top when I was playing it on PS3 as well.  I didn't have much luck finding suitable miniatures.

I looked at the Privateer Press Cygnar Trenchers and Long Gunners.  But they were still going to require quite a bit of conversion work to swap out heads and file off the shoulderpads and stuff.

I'll definitely be curious to see how you progress on this project.  Good luck!

I hate anime styled things like these.

Looks like a good concept though.

I'm not down with the computer games though, not really a fan of them.

I agree that Valkyria Chronicles would translate perfectly into a tabletop game and had a thought about doing that myself. Good luck finding suitable models - I'll shout if I see any.

The game is taking place in a alternate ww2 universe.

What, out of interest, does it have to do with the Second World War? The image doesn't exactly lend itself to any historical period.

I've been pondering recently that some of the new Bauhaus Warzone figs would work well (with a little tinkering) as Imperial soldiers.

I'm wondering if anyone ever found any suitable miniatures for this?

With the recent re-release of the game on PC, I'm awfully tempted to slip Gallia in as an imagi-nation in my Pulp games.

Do the figures have to be pulp? There are lots of figures in Spanish Civil war, a Vary British civilwar, and Late Great war ranges that I think will work fine for some most of the figs.
The only problems I can see, might be for some of the wearing armor.

I don't think you're getting minis for these figures without modification. The question is what might require the least.
