The Princess of Zoloz, Part III -- a Pulp Alley AAR
« on: November 25, 2014, 04:47:05 AM »

Scenario -- I didn't cover everything that happened during the scenario, but I hope this format gives some players a better idea about how Pulp Alley plays. Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions for an upcoming scenario.

What a thriller! Ace escapes by the seat of his pants!

Were you playtesting any new rules here? I can't seem to find a reference to the reinforcement wave rules you mention in this scenario. Or did Charnock just have Summon this game?

Splendid, it's like being back watching the Saturday morning cinema serials and also a grand and clear way to explain how the rules work. Keep them coming.

Ace takes his knocks but escapes by the skin of his teeth! That's what Pulp is all about! :)

Ace is the man! Love the setting, report and outcome. And can the big ape swim...?

An excellent report and lovely looking game once again, they just keep getting better. The clear bases look so much better, definitely time to switch.

Shouldn't Ace have dropped from 4D10 to 3D10 for a second combat action in the Turn when he takes on the second Askari, or did I miss something in the excitement.

Thanks for all the encouraging comments. I certainly appreciate it.  :-*

The reinforcements draw was just a special deployment for this scenario. This was intended to prevent the defender from clogging the exit point, since we had so little room to maneuver. As it was, I got lucky when he drew a '0' on turn #3. Otherwise, I don't think Ace would have made it off the steamer.

Ace has 'Hardened Veteran' so he ignores that pesky multiple combats penalty. It really paid off in this scenario.

BTW -- Mila added a few packs of her "Ultra-Inviso" plastic bases to our online store.  ;)

That was lots of fun. Ace is a very "combat-focused" character, so it is nice to play a scenario that plays to his strength once in awhile.  lol lol

Oh neat!

What sort of structure did you use? I'm guessing a draw from the deck to give a number, but did this just work as a delayed deployment (i.e. Charnock's league was still worth a fixed 10 points total and some of them just showed up late based on the draw) to balance the narrow terrain, or was there an actual point cost given to the "reinforcements" (i.e. Charnock started with something between 4 and 8 points on the board, but could theoretically end up with far more than 10 points if he draws really well)?

I like the idea, I would just want to make sure I was balancing it properly. In this case the narrow terrain also factored in so I suppose you'd have to adjust it for a more open game.

Maybe the better question I should ask is "How much would Summon cost as a League Perk instead of a Leader ability?" 2 points? 3?

Of course, that makes sense. I should have spotted that. Now to visit the store and check out Mila's bases.
