Read the bog - why would they be slow?
The armour does not weigh that much (certainly not as much as a hoplite and they managed a run) and its not like they are running 5km?

Without meaning to be rude, you don't need new gear, you just need to put the light source in front of your figures, not on top, or behind. Photography is largely about casting light in the right direction - it's not about technology. Also, I agree with above, why do guys carrying a couple of extra pounds move slower; moving pontoons, etc., I could understand, but satchel charges, etc., ? That doesn't make sense outside of a reason to make playing counters different in some way - which is all the rage these days, I understand.

My light is in front and maybe 150 to 200 mm higher than the miniatures. I guess you are saying that it should level with the models. Ground level so to speak. Is that right?

In Bolt Action a model wearing body armour can only move a max of 6" with a run order, when it is 12" normally. The rules do not state why the movement is slower. It does state it weights 3.5kg.

Yep, it looks tome that the light source is casting a shadow downward. You might try with the light further away and casting down towards the figures from an angle of about 30 degrees. Also, bizarrely, sometimes a less bright, more defused light works better - for example, personally I prefer to use natural light on cloudy days rather than extremely sunny ones.

The first two are pics under defused artificial light (ceiling mounted florescent tubes, about 10 foot of, about 3 foot above the table) the third has additional natural light. The fourth has natural light, though not direct, on a sunny day and shows that light can be too bright.

these last shots are in perfect light (IMHO) using Macro. The light is artificial (as per the others above) plus window light about five foot away and from in front of the figures on a bright but cloudy day.

BTW, I'm not a professional, but people seem to like my pics. I've had a couple of pro-shoots here for various magazines and they have mostly used big defused lighting or big soft flash lighting, the latter gives some outstanding results. Specialist lighting is beyond my pocket and interest. Most of my best pics are sheer flukes.

Interesting as a Lee Enfield weighs in at 4kg unloaded - no. 102 in my reasons for preferring CoC over BA :)
