Optivisor Advice
« on: April 01, 2015, 10:36:56 AM »
Hi guys,

I've been looking at the 'Optivisors' on amazon and i'm a bit befuddled as to what is good quality and what is not!

Can anyone recommend any of the following:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=optivisor

Any help in this matter would be appreciated :)

Darrell.

Have you tried some off the shelf reading glasses? Start low 1.00 and build up if needs be. I use a pair of 2.5 and happily put eyes in on 15mm.

Some of the scary american painters go as far as 5.00. Gives me a headache though.

PS. Cheap is ok. Got mine for about £3 and I've heard good things about pound shop ones :)

Only problem is taking a figure into a shop and looking like a lunatic while you try them on.

It wasn't me. Honest. This big monkey did it and ran off.

I've got a pukka Donegan Optivisor with a 3x lens plate and I can totally recommend it. I've tried reading glasses and cheaper headband magnifiers but they're not anywhere near as good.

It's really all down to the quality of the lenses, and with magnifiers I've found you get what you pay for Darrell.

Front Rank used to sell them, well that's where I got mine, it was a few years ago though.  8)

Donegan DA-5 here and also very pleased with it.
(Mine came with 2 lens plates DA-5 & DA-7 IIRC)

I bought it at Salute from Front Rank after testing one out.
(and yes, they still carry them and they will be at Salute 2015  ;))
