I think the figures and sketches are really quite lovely, and I'd love to see the others sketches realised; my only real reservation is with Robin's bow. It doesn't fit the arrow. The bow is actually fine for the period and location, if you're going for the late 12th Century "Richard and John" version. The longbow was still very much a Welsh weapon at this point and most Englishmen's view of one would be from the sharp end!

However, that arrow (and Robin's stance) doesn't fit that bow. That arrow is for a longbow, drawn to the cheek, and there's just no way that bow will shoot that arrow. To see what I mean, just imagine the bowstring for a moment. If it goes around the arrow in that position, it will be be a loose, baggy thing when the bow isn't being drawn.

The easiest adjustment would be to just give Robin his longbow.

Despite the verbiage, though, I'll reiterate that they're great greens.

Nice figures but I agree that both Little John and the bow should be bigger. I would expect John to be a head bigger than Robin.

Lovely looking sculpts! I hope you release them.

I too, think the bow should be a bit longer, and I am not sure about Robins hairstyle. Perhaps produce some alternate heads for Robin and the others if you intend to sell them?

Unfortunately had signed off on those as i put up the images but I'm sure i can get extra heads done in the future and when it arrives i may have a look at the bow and such and see what can be done, long as it doesn't wreck it.

The main ones being worked through and drawn are very much character pieces as i figure mostly everybody does Knights, serfs and such but if any one has any thoughts on Additions and such please just drop me a note

Another little image for you to take a look at

Queen Eleanor

OK, one last time. These are small... but the ones out there are far away. Small... far away... ah forget it!

With regards to additional characters, it really depends upon what version of the stories you want to follow. I was a big fan of the HTV Goldcrest series Robin of Sherwood as a child, for example.

Maybe a Guy of Gisborne? Much the Millers son? Alan a Dale? Perhaps you could do a Robin Hood as the beggar who wins the silver arrow? Marions father? More generic outlaws? These are just some ideas that popped into my head... :)

I will follow this thread with interest, There are not enough Robin Hood sculpts out there, in my opinion

Yes I did wonder about him, I am not sure in which versions he appears apart from Robin of Sherwood, although wasn't there a similar Saracen character in Prince of Thieves?

Nasir was created for Robin of Sherwood: originally he was a supporting character in one episode, but the production team liked him.  To the best of my knowledge, no previous film or TV production had included, among the Merrie Men, a Saracen.  This being British TV in the 1980s, he was played by a white Englishman, Mark Ryan.

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves followed Robin of Sherwood in having an insane Sheriff and a major character who was a Saracen, Azeem.  This being 1990s Hollywood, he was played by an American of west African descent, Morgan Freeman.

The recent TV series Robin Hood also had a regular character who was a Saracen, Djaq.  This being the 21st century BBC, he was actually a cross-dressed woman played by an Indian, Anjali Jay.

Back from the dead, almost.

the first literary installment of the Robin Hood theme, Ivanhoe by Walter Scott, introduced the "returning from the crusades" setting and transplanted RH into that period. Before, he was a folklore character of the 13th Century, a rebel praised in ballads, and apparently a mixture of many different historical characters as often happens.

In Ivanhoe, the Crusade theme includes the muslim servants of the main antagonist, the templar Brian de Bois Guilbert, as minor minions. And this is also the blueprint for the rest of the screen installations. Worth reading it or watching one of the adaptations, of which I prefer the 1970ies BBC TV serial as rather well transferred, and not the condensed plot of the Hollywood movie.

but I am sure you all know that
