Plast Craft Games buildings?
« on: December 04, 2014, 03:59:18 PM »
I'm looking for some good (and cheap) buildings for my pulp alley adventures and I should have find how make cheap huts and arabic buildings... however I still was considering for a temple that could be fine for my alien greenskin amazons, I've found that plast craft have done some nice building for infinity, which design could be fine for me:

I could use the "caliph gardens" and "energy tower" in the left, for a nice and simple alien building temple

Here a nice table using most of the infinity buildings:

Someone have yet bought some of the plast graft games buildings, there are easy to assemble and look fine? Thanks.

What I read about them is you get sheets of plastic which you have to bend and glue yourself. Doesn't sound like a terrific way of constructing buildings to me...but I don't have any personal experience with them.

I've built a bunch of their containers.

Here's my review:

They're ok, but do NOT expect them to look like in the pictures without considerable extra effort.

The buildings in that video are the older "desert" line http://www.plastcraftgames.com/en/25-desert. They aren't bad at all for €5~€6.50. Just like everything in terrain making it's all a direct ratio of time:money

The terrain in the OP is the Bourak line the Infinity game http://www.plastcraftgames.com/en/64-designed-for-infinity and they're about 3x as expensive, but they're also a lot more detailed. All the newer kits Plastcraft has been doing (the 15mm WW2 buildings, the Bourak buildings, the Malifaux buildings) all have the designs impressed into the sheets and are fairly well detailed and look fantastic. The downside is that they are starting to cost as much as MDF kits now.

has an unboxing of the kits in the OP, skip to the 6:15 mark and you can see all the filligree is actually molded into the sheets, pretty hard to replicate with cardboard and paint!

Do you actually have these?

I'm asking because there are embossed details on my container kits. They are just... not very crisp.

I have some for the Old West and they are simple without details but are a good base to work and yes they are cheap.
My advise is buy them and use for example pumice from vallejo to texture them.
After that they look much nicer after painted.
Beware though, dont do a complete wall at once for the pumice will bent the plasticard. Use in small areas at time.

Also take a look at warbases - http://war-bases.co.uk/BUILDINGS/MIDDLE-EAST

They are in mdf and so more sturdy and they are cheap.
You also have a lot of wagons and carts.

I bought several of the textured western buildings and they're pretty good. They're definitely good for the price, I think they were $11.50 CAD each at one of my local shops. I just pre-ordered the whole circus pre-coloured set because I desperately want it for games of Strange Aeons and Batman. That was a fair bit pricier, but it'll look amazing I'm sure.

Say guys, speaking of Plast Craft, could you tell me what sort of glue you use to assemble the buildings? I am thinking of two-part epoxy but the long drying time is a turn-off.  Does superglue/Tarzan's Grip do the job?

Thanks.

Superglue is the only thing that worked for me.

Indeed, you will have to use superglue. Some folks don't like the material, but once it's glued together the buildings are very solid. I've yet to paint any of them, but I expect they'll take airbrush and regular acrylic paint just fine.

In this thread you can find some pictures of Plastcraft 'post pimping'. As Rumacara said - a good base to start with.
