War games room make over
« on: December 08, 2014, 09:31:40 AM »
Hi

For the past year and a half I have been discussing with Mark (Dr Death) a good Wargaming friend of mine as to how to overhaul my gaming room to make the most of my space. I did have an eight by four table but most of the time my son's railway set up was on top of this.

We came up with a plan of building a shelved unit to keep my troops on and a new design for table.

Now whilst my Dad is a carpenter by profession and has kindly taken over building the cabinet.

As for the table the issue has always it being constructed in the room and have been saving my pennies to get someone in to build it rather than imposing on Dad again.

Well over the last week we have gone from this

To this

The proud owner, of an 11.5 by 5 foot table.

The two boxes underneath the table are for my son's railway or board gaming if gives up on trains.

Will post photos of the unit when it is finished to complete the room which will hopefully be soon.

Cheers

Phil

I see the Dr De'Ath influences already, but beware when he starts to go all lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen on you and goes for pastel colours, spackle glazes and rag rolling on the walls. ;)

I used to a few years ago (every Friday night). The group still plays 1-2 sessions a year, some of them going to ADG's convention/tournament in regional NSW each year. It's a game that really sucks you in and a 11.5 x 5 foot table certainly helps to play it.

That looks like a proper gaming table!  8)

It seems that you have perma-placed yourself behind the table... to avoid all the house-hold tasks and such?  ;)

Lol oh to be able to get away with that!

The two draws will become my painting and basing stations when I get rid of my desk.

Very nice table Phil, and about time you got it sorted :)

I see the Dr De'Ath influences already, but beware when he starts to go all lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen on you and goes for pastel colours, spackle glazes and rag rolling on the walls. ;)

Says the metrosexual who turns up at Salute in a waistcoat and tie and posts pictures of his morning latte and pastries.  Besides, you loved the rag-rolling we did in your under stairs cupboard  ;)

DON'T get him started on WIF, he needs to put all his time into painting figures and making terrain to cover his new 11.5' x 5' gaming table  lol
