Looking for Help with Kings Mountain Terrain

I've been wanting to do a diorama of the Battle of Kings Mountain for some time. I've got all the figures that I need painted and ready to display. What I need is some help in constructing the terrain.

I know that at the peak of the battle the Patriots ended up surrounding the Loyalists on the top of the mountain. The top was basically flat and went from 60 feet across to 120 feet across at the other end.

So, I can build this from pink foam. I'm wondering how high I should go. I would like to keep it at 4 x 8 feet, but could go 6 x 8 or even 8 x 8, if need be.

Any help in construction or terraining would be very much appreciated.
