Western movies
« on: December 09, 2014, 08:52:30 PM »
Does anyone know of a manufacturer of 28mm Cowboys who look like the cowboys from old time western movies?  Most figures I can find are probably pretty accurate historically, but no Allan Ladd or John Wayne for that matter.  Novels by J T Edson also describe what I have in mind.  Low tied guns, turned up Levi's, clean shaven etc.  after all it was that kind of movie, and novel, that got me interested in you Cowboys in the first place, and from there war gaming in all its glory.

All help appreciated from a new member

Not so sure about the clean shaven, but take a look at Black Scorpion's Tombstone range.

Artizan designs The Good, The Bad and the Ugly.
Crusader miniatures John Wayne as Ruster Cocburn mounted and dismounted.
None of these specify who they represent but can easy be identifyed.
If you look with atention you may identify in other manufacturers some characters suitable to represent movie actors.

Old Glory/West wind do quite a few. John Wayne, Robert Mitchum, James Caan, plus characters from Silverado and I think Lonesome Dove. They also do the Wheelwrights (Bonanza).
Jane! Stop this crazy thing!

Bob Murch has a set of very Hollywood looking cowboys in the pipeline, no idea on the release though  :?.
I am looking for the following Deadlands minis:  Shotgun Thug, Lost Soul, Cleaners, Railroad Workers & Feral Dead. If you have any of these minis, or if you are one, please send me a PM.

Pictures of Murch cowboys??  I just checked and nothing close.  There really is a need for a couple sets of tv/cinema heroes, folks like Will Kane,  Monte Walsh, Matt Dillon, Shane, Josh Randall etc.

Not old-school Hollywood, but Brigade Games have "not" figures for Deadwood, Hell on Wheels, and Appaloosa. In a similar vein, Architects of War have Gone with the Wind.

I swear we had a thread about this before, with some additional options, but I can't find it for the life of me.

I have a couple of John Wayne look alike figures, one is from Old Glory. I also have a Foundry figure that when painted up looks just like Rock Hudson from 'The Undefeated'.

It would be nice to see some more apaches specially mounted and the characters Cochise, Geronimo, Ulzana, Natchez, Soldado Fiero, etc.
They also deserve their part in the western galleries of miniatures. ;)
