I ask also. Small Martian tornados?

Brilliant stuff! the models, the terrain, everything! Though I must ask you: why are all your vehicles are covered in rust? Do the crews not have pride? In fact, I notice the Prussians have less rust than the Brits!  :D

I'm sure the British’ll recover. Stiff upper lip and all that!

Excellent report and VERY nice looking game. I particularly like the terrain boards and houses, as well as the paint job on the derailer (must paint mine up).

2 officers (including one unusual character in 18th century costume…must get Rabbitz to write about HIM)

.... from the way he dresses this sounds like Baron Munchhausen really did make it into space ...

A great read, and some great pictures.  I can give it no greater compliment than to say I'd give my favourite mini's right arm to play in a game of that calibre! :)

Bravo!

Awesome write up TJG, and the pictures turned out a treat.

Looking forward to our next bash.

The Orange cone things are Mourn trees,  well they are in our weird setting anyway.  (They are actually from a flower shop, I have no idea what they really are but they do smell rather nice.)
The Derailer tank paint job was super quick, just a black undercoat and then dry brushed with a 2' brush.
So Thunderchicken this is how it was done...
Spray undercoat it black, then put a base coat of a very dark metallic gun metal, (I used a spray can of metallic Charcoal)
Then with a 1" or 2" household paintbrush drybrush these colours onto it.  (they are all household emulsion froma DIY store and in the 'British paints' range.
1st Pirate Pete  (Blue)
2nd Raven Hill  (A browny Green colour)
3rd Gold Harmony  (A yellowy cream)
4th Honey Malt (A pale bone colour)

Gloss Varnish and then a Matt coat.

Job Done

Anyway TJG thanks for writing this up  :)

I like to give my stuff a battle worn feel, and the Martian terrain is extremely hostile with huge sandstorms stripping back the paint. But less rust than my last effort! Maybe the airforce will have just a smidge. Maybe I should see a specialist?

Looking forward to our next bash.

Anyway TJG thanks for writing this up  :)

No worries. All we need for the next bash is a floating British port for aeronef and us to get our fleets painted!

But what if I write Tintin into our campaign? Those space/time portals have a lot to answer for!  ::)

Thanks everyone for all the positive comments. And if any of you just happen to be in this neck of the woods then come along for a game. Even Malamute on his round the world trip via Canada. We'd love to see more people playing VSF! (our efforts to convert club members are yet to bear fruit...).

In 28mm scale?  I now have 4 Prussian Aeronef Ships in 28mm scale if you wanted to go that way.    Or do you mean in 1/1200 scale?

1/1200 scale is fine for now!! Oh, and a couple floating batteries to protect the harbour would be great. And get that 28mm Prussian aerial navy here on LAF asap!
