Crazy Idea - Supers Xmas Game 2015
« on: December 18, 2014, 09:38:04 AM »
I ran a special "end of year" Supers game at the last Friday meeting of the local club last week (much-delayed AAR will be on the blog at some point) and it was a lot of fun, as always. At the pub afterwards we got to talking about xmas themed games and what fun could be had. Well, the idea clearly stuck in my head, as I've been turning it over in my mind at work all day.

Not sure exactly what I'd do, but if I work with a goal of 2015/12/25, I may be able to come up with something.  lol

First up, there are plenty of xmas themed comics out there, both serious and jocular. I read a Silver Surfer comic once where he's mistaken for an angel and helps lost souls home for xmas, which stuck with me, but that wouldn't make a great game.

There's this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0337714/?ref_=nv_sr_1 which I saw years ago in Sydney, more SF Skirmish than Supers though, which brings me to these bad boys:

Evil Santa Robot, Kwanza Bot and Hanuka Zombie. Three mad wise men bearing murder and frankincense. Minis may be a bit hard to find though...

Speaking of minis:

and,

Thoughts gents?

That sounds lie a great idea. Fellow LAFer Leonmallett (AKA Pulp Citizen) and I have run Christmas themed superhero games using Pulp City for the last few years and this year is no exception. We call them Christmas Madness and they have centred around two Santa clones, Bad Santa and Good Santa as they recruit a verity of heroes and villains to their respective causes and try to defeat their nemesis to control Christmas. This year we are planning something a little different, just to keep the idea fresh, but we are still going to use Pulp City rules (in this case second edition).

Here is a link to my Christmas Madness posts on my Blog. Scroll down to read the battle reports and see some of the Christmas themed minis (including Zombie Santa and Santa the Barbarian).

And here is a link to Pulp Citizens Blog

This might give you some Christmasy ideas.

Theres more 28mm Superhero Madness at my blog, http://fourcoloursupers.blogspot.com/
And for Ultra-modern Wargaming check out Hotel Zugando at http://ultramoderngaming.blogspot.co.uk/

Great games, lots there to think about.

Anyone else seen that "Proof Santa is Odin" thing going around facebook? Worth a read.

I have just read it. Very interesting. There is no doubt that many Christmas traditions are pre-Christian, so maybe the theory has some truth to it?

I was just wondering if I could skip over Santa and go straight for Odin?  lol

Does someone make a good 28mm+ Odin? Oathsworn did the KS one, but I remember it being limited edition?

You could also look at Hydra Miniatures Robot Legion from their Retro Raygun range.

Thanks for posting all those links Styx! I'm currently cleaning, gluing and undercoating the WSD Santa set. I'm going to make it RCW themed. So maybe I need a whole lot of the gingerbread men too.
