And the final part of the village build is now up here:

Onto the fields next, but here's a few snaps of the completed bits.

"What is out of scope for the new board?

•Simply put, anything after the turn of the millenium (actually 2000). Immediately, this covers the War on Terror, Afghanistan/Iraq and most recently Ukraine, but also the current Israeli-Palestinian clashes."

Just saying!

What are you saying?  Your message is too cryptic for me I'm afraid.

Why only after turn of the millennium? Looks like it wouldbe perfect for Soviet Afghan War to me.

Speaking of which, I have a large Cold War era collection of minis. Will the new modern CoC rules come with lists for this era? I presume the rules would work just as well for this era, Mogadishu, the Falklands, etc as for "ultra" moderns.

Please read all the FAQs.

This thread is fine (very fine work btw) and follows forum rules as I understand it.

I think the comment may refer to the new board rules, however a compromise has since been agreed that allows terrain projects,  paintjob displays, etc that are all non-political,  non-background based. As far as I am aware there are, therefore,  no rules being broken with this rather excellent terrain project.

Sorry to hear about your back Rich, having burst a disc myself this year I can sympathise.

I've intentionally not made any reference to conflict which I'm using these for as I am aware of the (unfortunate, but understandable) rules about contemporary conflicts.  I jus thought that as a build project this might be of some interest.

I do think that it is a shame that I won't be able to post reports here of the forthcoming campaign we have lined up with modern Chain of Conmand, as it will emphasise the importance of working with the civilian population just as much as fighting the enemy.  However, rules is rules and even an old anarchist like me doesn't want to get chucked off LAF, as this is the place I come to when I'm off duty.

Cheers TravellingMan - thanks for a nice friendly comment!

Rich - the guidelines for this section of the forum very specifically say that 'current 'Stan' is out of order. I'm not having a dig at Richard or his work, I'm delighted to see this stuff because I was annoyed that the 'modern ban' was introduced.

However I'm equally annoyed to find the ban 'stepped around', apparently at whim, because I read the ban and took it seriously - as I suspect have a lot of forum members.

If we have content rules they surely should be followed, no?

Well rather than see it go to waste, I have a decent sized collection of Soviet troops and Afghans for the pre-1989 period. So send me  the village and a copy of the play test rules and I'll put them to good use.  :D

Come on lads, let's not get Rich's thread locked. None of this is breaking the new rules.

Never even knew there was such a rule on this forum, and I obviously misunderstood the import of the comments above. In any case, it's a nice village  :D I'll ask my questions about the viability of the rules for the Cold War on one of the Lardies forums instead...
