I have some of the CdA paint triads defined by Steve Dean, the paints are like the 'original' Foundry paints in that they cover well but have a definite sheen finish.
I am completing a 15mm commission that has a lot of horses but only 1 coat of paint required - no layering - and the CdA colours have covered a black undercoat really well.
My preferred ranges for horses are Liquitex Soft Body acrylics and Delta Ceramcote. Both cover well and will mix.
For dark browns I use Liquitex Burnt Umber base coat and then progressively add increasing amounts Liquitex Burnt Sienna or Ceramcote Black Cherry or Candy Bar Brown or Red Iron Oxide.
For Duns I use Ceramcote Pigskin lightened with Spice Tan.
For Palimino's it is Ceramcote Mocha Brown followed by Maple Sugar Tan followed by Maple Sugar Tan/Parchment thinned to act as a thin highlight.
