Multu-Player Convention style Pulp Alley
« on: December 28, 2014, 08:49:46 PM »
We are planning to be putting on a number of Pulp Alley games at conventions, starting with Hammerhead in February.
We have 4 gaming friends coming over on Friday for a games day, so I was planning to have a first trial run of a scenario then.
Does any one have any experience that they can share. We play on 1 3' square area with 2-4 players. If we have 6 or 8 leagues, should we increase the table size and or the number of plot points?

One of my ideas is for a 2000 AD / Judge Dredd style Food Riot. 4 Players with Juve Gangs competing for 5 plot points of food. The Justice Department deploy on turn 2. They do not get victory points for plot points but for arresting rioters. They move in to contact with character from rioters league, turn a fortune card and rioter can choose to brawl or use one of the skills listed on card to resist arrest using a skills roll off. Rioters can not be shot by Justice Department unless they have resisted arrest.

What do you think?

Sounds like fun! Our last game had 7 players. Five of the leagues were "3-baggers" (Leader, Sidekick, Ally), and two were 4 and 5 figure (2 Sidekicks & 2 followers for one, and 1 Sidekick, 1 Ally, 3 followers for the other). The game took 3.5 hours to complete. I used a 4'x4' area, actually less, as a good chunk of it was the harbor and nobody went for a swim...

What's more, we actually beefed up the Ally class awhile back, to give them a better chance of survival. Here's what we did:
We decided to give an Ally two stats with 8-sided dice, and 4 with 6-sided dice. In addition, they get two skills at two dice, and four a one dice.

Good luck!

Sounds like a cool idea, Chris. A trial run or two will definitely help you fine tune it.  ;)

HAVE FUN!

I ran an old west dino hunt (Valley of Gawangi) with 6-8 players at our local con last year and it was great fun.
Jane! Stop this crazy thing!
