Figure options needed for Alpha Flight villain "The Master"
« on: December 31, 2014, 04:32:19 PM »
Hey all, I'm looking to make a custom Master figure to go with my Alpha Flight characters. I was going to use the body of a Heroclix Earth Man figure (DC character, Legion of Super Villains). If you add a cape and maybe a collar to him I think he can work. However, the Master's helmet is pretty unique.

Anyone out there have some ideas for where I could find something similar? I'm fairly sure I can't sculpt such a thing. If you have suggestions please do let me know!

Maybe the Heroclix 'Avalanche' could be a starting point - it's somewhat similar in shape

I like my games like my orange juice: pulpy with no added sugar or artificial sweeteners

Hey that's a good idea. I think I have one or two of those...I can attempt sculpting a beard on one. Thanks!

I'd go with Avalanche as well, Clix are pretty easy to do head-swaps on too. Rather than sculpting, I tend to use a really thick mix of paint to do beards.

I'm not a superhero miniature player but I loved John Byrne's Alpha Flight run.  The Master has one of the coolest backstories in the entire Marvel universe.  When I was a kid all my friends asked:  "Why do you collect ALpha Flight?  They are so strangely written".

:'(Now I realize, sniff sniff, I'm not alone.

Haha definitely not alone. We might be the only Canadians who think they're cool though. I know there are a few other folks on the boards here that share my enthusiasm for the team.

*Raises hand* I'm a yank who loves Alpha Flight. I recently had to purchase some cold weather boots and the selling point of one brand over the other was that it had a Canadian maple leaf in the tread. I call them my Alpha Flight boots.

Walking the dog becomes an exercise in great justice!

I only ever collected issue 1-28, as well as the x-men 120's.  I didn't like the direction it went after that, although I collected some of the Jim Lee stuff around issue 50.  The later reboots I was not a huge fan of either, although I read the trade paperbacks.  Something about those early Byrne issues, so weird and different.  It's nice to see some of the minis out there.
