I can recommend 'The Flag Dude' but he seems to have been offline for some time now.

Too bad, could you use flags for the Crimean war?

It's pure conjecture so you could use whatever flags you want.

Not at all. Both the regular British regts' and the Canadian militia regts' flags would be documented, especially the former!

I meant that the conflict is pure conjecture not the historical flags used at the time.  As to information on the actual flags being documented, well good luck with that.  I'd be happy to take any information you can find especially in the case of the latter.  I have seen the flag of the 13th Bn Canadian Volunteer Militia (a forebearer of the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry) and apparently taken, but not carried at Ridgeway in 1866.  The Queens Own Rifles of Toronto, who also fought at Ridgeway, shouldn't have a flag, being a rifle regiment.

I also have information on the flags of three other militia units.  There are similar themes running through each but the layout seems to be at the discretion of the unit itself, well the CO anyway.

To my knowledge there is no definitive source for information on Canadian flags.  There is a book called 'Old Colours Never Die' on the subject but it mainly chronicles where the colours were and what happened to them, it has some pictures some in black and white!  Unfortunately Canadian Militia colours did not belong to the Crown and in many cases were not kept but were given to the CO of the time when colours were changed or just plain 'disposed of'.  Unlike the UK where they were often housed in churches when no longer in use.

It's too bad they don't make drunk artillerymen,I believe from what little I read ,one of the Toronto Artillery units were in a celebrity mood on the train on the way to I think Ridgeway, and that they forgot their ammo. I can't wait to get more into the conflict ,the figures are beautiful .I even used the Scots Guards figures and painted them up as Danish foot Guards for Schleswig wars. I am glad their are people like The Perry's and Shipka and others who manufactor  maybe not so much for popularity, but because they want to ,because it's cool.

Yeah, it certainly brightens up the world of wargaming that we are so lucky as to have these sculptors (and indeed all the quality sculptors- Bill's (Musketeer/Footsore) Franco Prussian War stuff is looking mighty fine for example).
