More warhammer! (Never thought I'd be saying that again.)

Lil' Buh-Buh was a purchase from MOAB last year, which I've only recently gotten around to painting up. That's not to say that I haven't bought anything else since, I'm just a slow painter. His head's a bit messed up because I couldn't work out where/how to glue the crest on properly, so it was a spot of bodgy green stuffing to the rescue!

It's a tight squeeze in the old howdah, which meant one of the skinks had to go on a spare base. Fortunately, he was one of the ones that turned out fairly well.

A comparison with Tepok's Sting, a fairly effective later model stegadon. I originally thought that it was much taller, but it's not as tall as the new guy. Wider? Yes. Taller? Kind of, if you count the poles on the back.

Well there's plenty more where that came from! (Well, probably one more at this point, but whatever.)

Time for updates! This is Captain Hodgepodge. He's made from more spare parts than anything else. Bonus points if you guess them all correctly!

Not gonna lie, I'm really happy with how the shield turned out.

This elf prince is made mostly from parts from the high elf dragon kit with some legs I picked up a couple of years ago at MOAB. I'm not sure where they come from exactly, but they work here.

The sword actually came out better than I expected.

This is Maisie Raukov, the youngest daughter of Vladimir Raukov (the fellow in my avatar). She's a powerful wizard with a big-ol' staff and so many jewels that I nearly went mad trying to paint 'em all.

Another white dwarf miniature. I didn't realise he had armour on when I started painting and assumed he must have been a slayer. By the time I realised my mistake, I couldn't be bothered to un-orange his beard.

Not sure why the flash went off on this one, but here we are. Now that all those photos are up, I can start on the stuff on the stuff I got last year.

I'm back!

This handsome bunch of lads are known as The Stirland Sobers. They've drunk enough to charge into nearly anything for less pay than a state trooper, but they're sober enough to remember which end of the weapon to hold.

Free company units don't usually allow for a musician and standard bearer, so I improvised.

I do enjoy how leany and dynamic these models are, even if they were a bit fiddly to paint at some points.

Here we have most of the fellowship of the ring. Sure, the set I got was missing a few components, like bases...and legolas...but at four bucks, how could I refuse? I couldn't, that's how.

I popped these guys on square bases, since I had enough of those to do the lot in one go without going *shudder* outdoors. I went for a dry, dusty base since Constable Bertrand says that he's working on a desert cave network...but his little bubba has started walking and progress will be a little slow for a while. In his defence, she is flippin' adorable and good at distracting people.

These photos are coming to you live from my new Flikr account, since photobucket is being a butt. I was also surprised to find how many models had backpacks/bedrolls on them. Good practice for the post-apocalypse, lads!

Overall, I'm fairly happy with how they turned out, even if my paints aren't 100% colour accurate.

It has worked for my 2000ad thread and is still working to this day!

The fellowship looks brill!  8) They are all set for Steves SSS ruleset then with them bedrolls. No one likes being outdoors in a blizzard/nuclear dust storm :(

Cheers

So now there's going to be a pipe system as well?  lol

And cheers for the kind words.

Here we have Queen Khalida from the old Tomb Kings Range. After being booted out of warhammer, I picked her up for twelve bucks at MOAB last year. Not a bad deal!

<img src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4409/36530884294_4bbbc342f6_z.jpg" width="640" height="480" alt="Queen Khalida">

I figure that she'll make a good ghoul queen for post-apoc shennanigains, or I might use her for fantasy games, I don't know.

It was nice painting up this one. She had plenty of detail, but wasn't too choked with detail or fiddly angles. Not like...

These guys! At two bucks for the whole bag, I couldn't go wrong...or so I thought.

See, some of the little scamps were already based and party painted (rather poorly, I might add). A spot of dettol took care of the worst of it, but the way (s)he'd put them down made getting to the stomachs pretty tricky. The ones with the nobbly dirt parts were pre-based, the other ones I put down myself and had a slightly easier time of it. Slightly.

Now, don't go jumping to conclusions, I haven't started a sigmarine army. I did this guy up as part of a speed painting contest. Could I have done better? Probably. Did I leave him on the shelf once I brought him home?

Nope.

This guy is part of the Burning Hearts, a chamber of warriors who perished defending whatever was most valuable to them in their old lives. No, I don't have an overactive imagination, YOU have an overactive imagination!

Honestly, I was glad to do a base that was just regular grass and rocks again. Not that I don't mind desert landscapes and stuff, but this was nice too, you know?

I'm back! Again!  :o

[/url]

This is Rorak Stonefist, the first character that I did for fifth edition D&D. The model itself was a freebie from MOAB. Free stuff is the best stuff.

As a youngish dwarf of sixty five, Rorak was perfectly content to live in his mountain home, carving stone and smashing face as most of his ancestors had before. That is, until the nightmares began.

After bringing these too-real dreams to his family and the community in general, it was discovered that Rorak had been chosen to seek out The Helm of Rage, a powerful artifact lost long ago and dangerous in the wrong hands (or even the slightly better than wrong hands)

Now, armed with weapons, armour and other tokens of well wishing from his family, Rorak ventures forth to find the helm, smash some faces and drink all the beers.

Hey, he's a dwarf. What'd you expect?

Hold on, who's this lot?

Why it's my D&D group! What say we go around and meet the folks that I occasionally get together and roll dice with.

This is Aldur, a character my DM rolled up, but is so far yet to play. Maybe he'll make an appearance when I step in occasionally as DM.

Aldur hails from a city called Sanctuary, where everyone strives to be the absolute best at their chosen field. Since the city is built into a mountain, space is at a premium.

What compelled Aldur to leave his home is a mystery, but maybe it has to do with his pact with the undying light?

The model comes from exmanus studios. Every year at moab, I buy a model from him. Some of his sculpts are so-so, but I liked this one.

This barbarian lass is Sierra Foxtrot, childhood friend of my character, Wildfire Magni (who you can see on the previous page.)

Sierra and Wildfire bonded over a shared talent for the lyre (which is apparently a trope in chinese war films?) but since Sierra is nomadic and Wildfire is a noble, they didn't hang out much after that one meeting.

The fates intervened and brought the two back together in a dodgy tavern in Neverwinter to adventure together and smash goblins into a fine, arrow-filled paste.

Sierra is meant to be armed with a greataxe, but aetherworks didn't have a barbarian lady with an axe who quite fit the bill, so I made do with a greatsword. Besides, who's to say she won't find a magic greatsword at some point?

I'm not sure why the picture's so dark on this one, but trust me when I say that this is Rieta, the tiefling ranger.

Rieta and Wildfire seem to take turns being either really good or really horrible at archery, which they sass one another about relentlessly. Again, the model is a reaper.

This dwarven lass is Diesa, the Druid.

I'm not sure what compelled Diesa to take up the adventuring life, but she's handy with her hammer and flames.

This is another reaper model and honestly, the second I saw it I knew that it was perfect for Diesa. Sturdy, wielding a hammer, covered in runes and junk...it was tricky to base, though.

This is Rolen, one of the newer members to our group. He's an elf monk who fell from an airship with a halfling and a dead body that had fallen on his own sword. As it turns out, the dead guy was a slavemaster and I got myself a free sword.

I don't know much about Rolen's character yet, but he strikes me as the type of elf who always tries to keep positive and I painted his robes to reflect that. The model's another reaper, but with a citadel spear tip.

This is Lynen the halfling and I bet you're all thinking that he's a rogue, right?

Well, he's actually a warlock. Of the Archfey. With about three daggers.

Why would a warlock need three daggers? Not sure, but just listen to this little tale: while clearing some bandits out of an inn, Lynen grabbed two of his daggers (one which had been lodged in an underling's throat) ran across a table and shouted, 'watch me jump!' as he leapt through the air and landed on the bandit leader's shoulders, plunging each in and holding on like some macabre rodeo.

It. Was. Amazing.

I honestly had fun painting this reaper model. The fact that I made his cloak green was pure luck, since I'd forgotten that he was a warlock of the archfey while painting him.
