Ooh the dwarves look good  the blue one with viking horn helm is a striking colour combo.

They turned out great Pete, cracking effort.

Yeah the crossbows seem less effective than a polearm or a hammer. And they are a bit of a faff to reload. Mind you perhaps if I stay still and focus on it I may be more successful.  ::)

Cheers! The helmet guy's kind of a noble type who thinks he's better than he is...but with two weapons, maybe he can back up his talk?

Still, it wouldn't be much fun to have a bunch of dwarves and nothing to fight them...

That's where Mr. Big 'n' Tall here comes in!

Stilts is an eager scavenger, developing his unique leg lengtheners to help him reach the stuff other goblins can't.

Anything he finds, he stuffs into his little bag.

Having a big, pokey stick helps when it comes to picking up bigger things (or keeping them away).

The model is from ex manus studios, a plague strider. The kit also comes with an alternate head and a crossbow, which I'll probably find uses for later...

What is a bag, but a source of bigger pocketses?  lol

But you know who doesn't need pocketses?

This guy.

Is it a dinosaur? A monster? A failed yoshi clone? The world may never know...

Looks like he's up to something...

Good, he's leaving...I hope.

This model is some kind of 3d printed monster. It was about three bucks at a local con called MOAB, so I figured why not? There were a few assembly issues, but it looks pretty nice now that he's all painted up. Our very own Constable Bertrand tried to convince me to buy another, but there was only one other selling for three bucks and someone bought it before I could, so he's a solo act for now.

Who knows, maybe the dinosaur has poketses too? But is his little arms too short to reach then?

You should have gotten both  ;D

He turned out great, lots of lovely skin texture there.  8)

He has a large head, but tiny arms...but do you know who DOESN'T have that problem?

This guy...mostly because he has no arms, but he could reach his pockets if he had them.

Forest drakes are said to be born locked into their wooden armour, but it just grows and hardens as they grow.

Their shed scales make for fine armour if they are harvested carefully.

That's not to say it's an easy task, what with the teeth and all...

The model here is from medbury miniatures, but it doesn't appear to be on their website. I guess you'll have to find them at a con or something if you want to grab one of these bad boys for now. I was originally going to paint him red, but this idea got in my head and wouldn't leave, so here it is. I reckon it turned out pretty okay. The skull is a GW one. I have a ton, so I might as well use 'em, eh?

That drake turned out very grand indeed. It makes a nice change to see dragons and their ilk coloured other than red.

Ooh that's a nice lizard, good he can reach his pockets, nothing worse than a tight frugal lizard that won't pay for any of the meals.

I was thinking of red, but thanks for letting me know that I made a good choice!

They do look rather similar, but the poses are a bit different. Might be a coincidence?

These guys don't believe in coincidences, though.

The captain in the middle cares more for fashion than function when captaining his ship, which explains his garish outfit.

His first mate is slightly more practically dressed for exploration, but there's no stealth like taking out anything that sees you before it raises the alarm.

The hunter on the left knows they'll likely get killed without him, so he tags along when they go ashore.

I snagged these three models from a demo game of Blood and Plunder, which I would highly recommend anyone try. The guy running the table offered me either a special deck of cards for the game (which I could've used for Torch and Shield) or three miniatures and I guess the hobby magpie in me won and I went for the shinier option. I did try to do the eyes, but my brushes weren't in a great state for navigating a tiny space beyond those hats. They look fine on the table though and that's what matters.

Pirates! Yikes.  8)

Good to see the local laundromat does a good job, must use plenty of Vanish and separate the whites by the looks of it. Very surprising for a piratey establishment, they must have more spanish gold than the pirates themselves!

More figures is always the right answer Pete!

Only the fanciest of socks for the fanciest of pirates!

This guy doesn't care as much about fanciness.

Nothing quite like a cannon to sort out an infestation.

Might be something special about that cannonball...

Looks like he's all good to go, but who's going to lug that cannon around?

The model is, I assume, a dwarf cannon from GW. I got it for ten bucks second hand, so there's a pretty good chance his friends were lost at some point in the past. I couldn't manage to separate the cannon from the base due to the...passionate efforts of the previous owner. Still, it scrubbed up alright.
