What scale?.....Huey copter

I have recently purchased the dogs of war figs from rogue miniatures

Could anyone give me some advice on what scale Bell huey copters can be used for a diorama setting?
or if anyone knows if 28mm scale huey models are sold?
I have some heresy predator figs I would like to paint up and add to this too
any advice would be great

Probably your best route would be a 1/48th kit - it's technically a little on the large side, but will be a much better fit than 1/72nd

There are a couple of diecast manufacturers who make modern military choppers in ~ 1:52 scale. I know I've seen a Blackhawk that scales nicely with Empress moderns - they might have a Huey as well.

Next to a 1:48 scale model, your average 28mm guy looks like he's about 5'2" tall  - 155cm... It's also the problem with using "O Gauge" model railroad buildings - all the doors look about nine feet tall.

I did a lot of research on the subject. You can buy various UH-1 versions as plastic kits in 1/48th scale as well as aftermarket decals for even more versions. I have built a UH-1B to go along with my 28mms, but it´s actually too big. I tend to use 1/64th scale models with them usually. You´ll notice the scale difference significantly in comparison to the vehicles in that case.
The only 1/64th scale model of a "Huey" is the Code 3 Agusta Bell 412 (modern civilian version with 2 engines and 4 blade rotor). In between there´s nothing Huey (1/56 or so) I found so far.

With 1/48 kits at half of their price you´d get awy much cheaper and 1/50 isn´t that smaller, is it?

True, but I've had Corgi Hueys for £12 and £15 on ebay before,  it's worth keeping an eye out. I've been daft though, you can pick up 1:48 pre-made,  pre-painted Easy Model Hueys for £9 - £15 on ebay depending on the seller. I've had three at £9 each. They're not bad at all.

If you've a normal base on the mini IMO the problem (1/48) isn't so noticable.

I'd agree if you use slotta size bases or if the cast on bases raise the figure more than a coupe mm's. The visual impact with a 3mm or larger base is of figs that are just the right height.

Also, 28mm figs are alot chunkier than real proportions so they are the appropriate width for 1/48 vehicles if a tad short.  Put a 28mm fig next to a 1/56 scale chair and the figure looks enormous.

If there's any chance you will be putting in a 28mm pilot, gunner or passenger then 1/48 is the way to go. If not, then I'd go with whatever is cheapest or most available. Anything from 1:56-1/48 will look just fine on the tabletop alongside your figs.  New Ray helicopters are dirt cheap if you can find them and look quite good.  

I'd personally avoid 1/64 scale stuff with 28mm as it looks quite tiny, but if it looks ok to you, then go ahead.
