Golgo Island AAR 01-24-2015
« on: January 29, 2015, 04:35:56 PM »
I'm just collapsing on getting decent pics these days. See Flintloque post in Other Adventures. Still, my son had a birthday party sleep over and in the morning we played a game of Golgo Island that I used to run at conventions. Eight groups with varying objectives fighting through the town of Normal, Texas which has been inconveniently invaded by aliens that have raised a legion of zombies.

Part of the boards where the Banana Tyrant and Alpha Zorgl start out at. They have been on Earth living in the trailer park for the past few months, no residents noticed anything out of the ordinary. With the alien invasion started the Zorgls need to fix their ship and get off planet before the Earth does the big firework. Brainjar aleins do that after all.

Hard to see over on the right hand side but Dr. Forrester's flesh golems are stomping through town to try and rescue him from jail.

Malcolm, the Chiansaw Demon, and his apprentice Kenny got off work from the BBQ restaurant and went about hacking up zombies and aliens.

The mother ship where everyone was trying to get... Well, some were trying to get to.

The Men in Black showed up to arrest the Banana Tyrant but were eaten by zombies shortly after they stopped their car to ask directions to the trailer park.

Forrester's monsters were also unsuccessfully asking directions to the local jail. Questioning tended to be ripping zombies in half and leaving a trail of shattered brainjar aliens. They never did get to the jail as they decided to wander the back half of the town and shred anything taht came too close.

Likewise, Malcolm and Kenny were stymied and delayed by zombies. Unlike the Men in Black the chainsaw warriors made short work of any and all comers.

And the Banana Tyrant closed in but was shot down by a mercenary group that couldn't get a decent picture taken.

At the end of the day it was the A-Team that completed all their objectives but refused to have their picture taken. Alright, not a single picture came out but that's just been par for the course lately. Still, every had a good time and it was a blast to break out the old scenario.

Very Cool :-*
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

Great report and table.  It's good to see Golo Island being played again.

Great setup! The birthday party "convention game" is a great idea. I'll have to store that one away...

One thought about the pictures: check your camera's settings. I have found that sometimes I'm taking wonky pictures, and when I poke around, I find that something's been changed. The camera may suddenly be in "athletic mode", where it expects fast people running around in bright sunlight, instead of tiny people who stand still and need macro focus.

I need to get in touch with Sylvain about a couple replacement antennae for the Alpha Zorgl as he has had a rough time of it over the last couple years.

It's something that just needs repair and the antennae  just well disappeared during a move on the painting table more or less. One of those things I'll get around to... Some day. I'll give you kudos Shadowking as I love the art in Golgo Isalnd and find that it captures the bizarre nature of the game exceptionally well.

Golgo's probably the best presentation of the Shock Force/War Engine game. Shame it didn't catch on more. I've got a lot of respect for Sylvain Boudeele for both getting the rules out there and learning to sculpt his own minis for the game. I did some minimal help with Neutron York 3000. I know he has the Turbo Ninjas & Syber Force going on but I really hope he gets back to being active in the wargaming circles again.

:( I always wondered what happened to Sylvain. He was very active and the blog was amazing, with all the demented battle reports. Hope he's doing well.

It's been years since I heard anything about Golgo.  Really awesome!  Great mix of figs and terrain.
